There is a theory going around that Rana will attempt suicide. What do you think of this?

What, wow. A theory based on what?

I wouldn’t be surprised by it, but I wouldn’t like it. TRMD did exactly thism Rana and Jade’s stories parallel in a lot of ways, and Jade, through guilt and pressure, was driven to the same thing, and it wasn’t handled well there, and I don’t expect it to be handled well here. It’s something that shouldn’t be a small side plot as part of a major arc, it should get its own separate treatment.

That’s not to say that LGBT characters shouldn’t ever be portrayed as depressed or that they could never consider or try to commit suicide, but it shouldn’t be as a result of a fairly brief breakup, and then have any negative feelings go away once the couple is reunited. They can’t just treat it like someone going on a bender. And given how the show has just completely glossed over Adam’s attempt over Christmas, I would not put much faith in them doing right by it here

Though, while I wouldn’t be surprised, I wouldn’t expect it. There’s no real dramatic value in it right now. IF they were to pull such a thing, it’d be as a wake up call to the people around her, and there’s a long way to go where that’s at all necessary, and I’d expect any downward spiral to lead to leaving Zee and coming out, that’s her “nothing to lose” thing, and then for her to be supported enough by Kate and Imran to not go further.

What did Catia say to Susana at the bar? Also, does Catia know that Susana is in the mob? And is Susana suspicious of Catia knowing she’s a cop?

I believe she very imaginatively hit on Susana by suggesting her drink was too strong for her, to which Susana, a master of subtlety herself, replied she liked things that are strong and hard, so Catia’s like, actually, that’s what people accuse me of being and then of course they start making out.

I’ll go back and gif stuff with dialogue, when I can. I think Catia does know, I thought we were gonna get a reveal where she’d like, open a case folder and see Susana’s pic, but I guess she already knows. I don’t know if Susana is suspicious, there’s a bit more I’m gonna gif, but I think of the two, it’s Catia that probably has more to suspect. If Catia really was gonna investigate Susana, sleeping with her with her badge in her pocket was…not the best detective work.

Also! Apparently Catia’s canon gay and Susana’s canon bi. Like, it’s not just two ladies thrown together because why not.

Yoooo Tessa did something horrible, she stole Mariah’s journal to make her songs, why is she like this, Mariah is a good person and doesn’t deserve this lmao bye Tessa

Oooh, that’s shady. But I mean…soap level shady.. Is it framing her as like, romantic and stuff because of it? To make songs for herself or for Mariah? Not that it makes it better if they’re for Mariah. So she just like stole a person’s diary and used it to write a song? Well. That’s gonna need some extreme strength redemption for the ship.

And okay, I get the feeling maybe you don’t think there can be redemption. And obviously that’s fine, of course. But I do think it can still be shippable, soaps are just built so differently from everything else. They go out of their way to be so contrived and wild only so characters can then do something equally big to redeem themselves. It’s just a constant neverending journey of upping the stakes.

Do you know if Imran is Rana’s younger or older brother?

Older. 🙂 I don’t even know if they said it, he just seems like one. But I looked it up and he’s mentioned at least in articles as being the older, so there we go.

Unrelated to that, but did you notice when they were at the bistro together with their parents and Zee and because he’d been demoted from his golden child status for separating from his wife, Rana’s parents were like, why don’t you sit at the head  of the table, Zee? Like…they’d rather replace him with their son-in-law than their daughter. She’s never going to be enough on her own, it was her marriage to Zee that’s raised her in their eyes. Is it any wonder that she’s loath to tell them?

Sorry if this is offensive, but is Desi a slur? Because someone I know (she’s Indian) said that for some, they don’t like being called Desi because it’s derogatory in a way, does the word Desi have different meanings in different cultures? Cause I know a lot of people in the US who use this label positively

No worries, not an offensive question.

I don’t take it as offensive but then I barely ever hear it from people who aren’t desi themselves so I’ve never even really had the opportunity to see how it feels from outsiders.

I don’t know of any other meaning for it than to refer to people from the subcontinent.

Maybe it’s like Paki, which while in Pakistan, we used frequently, but there was the furor over Bush using it, and also apparently Brits use it in a very negative way. So…you know, that’s changed. I guess it’s like anything, be careful and don’t use it for people who don’t like it.

For that anon who asked about Mariah & Tessa, there are newer scenes of them, basically Tessa said she needed inspiration to write her song and she looked at Mariah, and Mariah went “don’t look at me” then she apologized for flirting with Mariah but in the same breathe, she stated how sweet Mariah was, and she looked amazing, then Mariah had a gay panic

Mariah had a gay panic from all that compliments, so she made an excuse about having to pick up her dry cleaning so she won’t have to be naked in her show, she went “can you imagine that” and tessa literally looked up as if she was trying to imagine Mariah naked lmaooo at this point, Tessa is not even trying to be subtle

Oooh, well, interesting developments. Thanks! And this is my cue to catch up on the downloading.
