what’s your theory about the purge and the whole jenna/lila/rick triangle after episode 7? there’s still one episode left, so we can assume that something else is going to happen with them. do you think one of them dies? xxx

Heh, I anticipated your question this week and was already thinking on this question after I watched!

First, aren’t there three more episodes? 

Second, it’s becoming less about the shipping for me now (maybe it always should have been) because it’s all being framed for Rick now. It’s no longer about just Lila and Jenna, every time we get anything between them, it pans over to Rick to see his reaction. And lol, he is in a tough spot. Was a bit of a dick move to try to stop Jenna from opening the gate to let Lila in but since then, he’s mooostly been okay with her. I’m not yet sure that Lila is telling the truth about what happened, but if she is, then that all does suck for her. 

Jenna is the weirdest here, because…does she really not see what’s brewing? I guess she thinks it’s just the one night, ride it out, Lila’s hurt and traumatized, there’s no way anything could happen tonight, let’s see where things are tomorrow. But they’re both so in love with her, every time she tends to one the other gets so on edge.

I saw the preview for next week, and I think, sadly, it’s Lila who’s going to do something shady. I do think one or two will die, it seems like Jenna will survive with one or the other. She could be the one who dies, but I think her, Jane, and at least one of the siblings–possibly in a sick twist Penelope will be the one who lives after Miguel sacrifices himself for her–will be the survivors. The same twist theory could apply to Jenna, where Rick and Lila live and she doesn’t, it depends on what “lesson” the writers want to teach. Is it going to be humanity triumphing or deliberately bleak as if to say, this is where we’re headed, stop before it’s too late. We’ve had Jane kill now, despite her attitude toward the purge, I wonder if Jenna will too at some point. Possibly even…one of Rick or Lila?? No…right? Hmm.

I don’t know the details but I’m pretty sure the Charmed reboot got a lot of negative attention before it aired because the reboot creators/rights owners screwed over the original show’s actresses who had put a lot of their own IP and work into it. I don’t know enough to have a solid opinion and I feel bad for the cast and crew involved in the reboot who didn’t do anything wrong, but there’s been a lot of unfair stuff going on production-wise unrelated to the quality of the show.

Oh? I can understand that but is that knowledge really so widespread? I know HMC’s been unhappy with it and I know that she’s taken umbrage at the reboot’s claim to be a feminist version (implying that the original wasn’t), but I don’t really see anything like that in people’s reactions to it. They don’t like the writing, they don’t like the actors, they don’t like the chemistry, they don’t like that it’s the CW, they don’t like that it exists at all. 

But surely if there were real issues they’d be splashed all over the place? If enough people knew of it to be going over to IMDB and downvoting it and even creating a #cancelcharmed tag on Twitter (which I just checked and only see comments about the quality, nothing to do with production or BTS drama), I imagine it’d be all over Tumblr too.

Okay, like…I’m freaking impressed that Rick realized Jenna went up to Lila, after looking him in the eye and yet it’s him apologizing in the end and begging her to stay with him. He was totally right to call her out, but clearly Jenna does feel pretty strongly for Lila too. Maybe she’s telling the truth about not liking what he’s turning into, but it’s a part of him. And what was it about him that made her cheat in the first place?

It just seems a bit odd, if they were already having trouble and then she cheated, and now they’re back in this place, what are they fighting so hard to keep? Or what is Jenna’s motivation to stay, what makes it not simple to just choose the person she’s more interested in and keeps returning to? Does she have a version of Rick she’s the most in love with, out of all three (idealized Rick, real Rick, and Lila)? 

I kind of figured Lila wasn’t dead, though it was still a shock in the middle of the ep, I’m kind of suspicious of her now. Where’d she go when Jenna was at her room door, how’d she make it all the way to their place, and why? And screaming for them to let her in while looking all bloody and scared, how convenient (though the preview makes it seem like she’s not the bad guy after all, the neighbor is).
