Have you seen the new spoiler pictures of Kate and rana? Zeedan apparently blackmails rana into staying with him and then it all goes down from there

I did see those, I did. Those aren’t the exact interpretations of the spoilers, I’d say, but that it’s even one of them is alarming for Zee’s characterization. Threatening to expose her? I’m sorry, whaaat? And her parents are there now??

 Although, although, it makes a huge difference to me if HE thinks, oh, she had an affair with a dude and thinks her parents can convince her to stay with him, though I’m sure he knows they’ll only guilt and put pressure on her, it’s not going to be some loving “are you sure this is what you want?” conversation, so already, negative marks for Zee there. But if he knows she’s in love with a woman and threatening Rana about telling her parents that? NEGATIVE INFINITY MARKS.

There is a theory going around that Rana will attempt suicide. What do you think of this?

What, wow. A theory based on what? 

I wouldn’t be surprised by it, but I wouldn’t like it. TRMD did exactly thism Rana and Jade’s stories parallel in a lot of ways, and Jade, through guilt and pressure, was driven to the same thing, and it wasn’t handled well there, and I don’t expect it to be handled well here. It’s something that shouldn’t be a small side plot as part of a major arc, it should get its own separate treatment. 

That’s not to say that LGBT characters shouldn’t ever be portrayed as depressed or that they could never consider or try to commit suicide, but it shouldn’t be as a result of a fairly brief breakup, and then have any negative feelings go away once the couple is reunited. They can’t just treat it like someone going on a bender. And given how the show has just completely glossed over Adam’s attempt over Christmas, I would not put much faith in them doing right by it here

Though, while I wouldn’t be surprised, I wouldn’t expect it. There’s no real dramatic value in it right now. IF they were to pull such a thing, it’d be as a wake up call to the people around her, and there’s a long way to go where that’s at all necessary, and I’d expect any downward spiral to lead to leaving Zee and coming out, that’s her “nothing to lose” thing, and then for her to be supported enough by Kate and Imran to not go further.

Do you know if Imran is Rana’s younger or older brother?

Older. 🙂 I don’t even know if they said it, he just seems like one. But I looked it up and he’s mentioned at least in articles as being the older, so there we go.

Unrelated to that, but did you notice when they were at the bistro together with their parents and Zee and because he’d been demoted from his golden child status for separating from his wife, Rana’s parents were like, why don’t you sit at the head  of the table, Zee? Like…they’d rather replace him with their son-in-law than their daughter. She’s never going to be enough on her own, it was her marriage to Zee that’s raised her in their eyes. Is it any wonder that she’s loath to tell them?

Different anon but the chocolate maker Rana AU reminds me of this one PC game released like a decade ago. Where a lady has to rebuild her choclate empire after her younger sister travels the globe and gives away all the recipes. I’m blanking on the name of the game but Rana totally seems like the younger sister who happens to fall in love with a certain someone on thr European leg of her travels.

How is this chocolate maker Rana AU a real thing, I’m laughing. I’d love to see these kids in different roles, falling in love again and again. 

Actually! You know what I’ve been hoping for and expecting? A GBBO AU! They’re already British, which is like the biggest obstacle for most other ships, and they’d fit in perfectly! I know most people would say, oh, Rana is Nadiya of course, but I see her more as like, a mix of Chetna because I think if she put her mind to it she’d be hella awesome with the flavor profiles, and then Candice and Ruby Tandoh, with the standout physical appearance (I mean, if you look like Rana, your looks are gonna be noticed) and then a ton of attitude. Kate’d just be super nice and affable, lol, my first thought was Martha. Just a combo of Martha and all the bakers who were really good with the basics, Nancy, Holly, Ruth.

Someone write this for me, please.
