Cop: What agency are you with?
Aramis Ayala, the first African American State Attorney in Florida history: I’m the state attorney.
Damn, re-reblogging to add that she’s also a badass in a stand off with the POS governor of Florida regarding the death penalty and independent prosecutorial discretion: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-constitutional-crisis-in-florida-were-all-missing/2017/07/12/16a68970-6299-11e7-84a1-a26b75ad39fe_story.html
(TL;DR- she announced she wouldn’t seek the death penalty in any cases before her office and the governor reassigned a bunch of homicide cases to a different office where the state attorney is pro death penalty. This is now turning into a court battle over whether or not he can do this to circumvent her professional judgment and discretion.)
