Charmed 2.0 anon again: if they sacrificed the magic for sisterly bonds i wouldnt mind(@ least for the season) because then we could learn more about them, see macy x mel finally hash it out and come out close, have all 3 have sisterly bonds and familial story lines and have family centred epsiodes… im crying thinking about it lmao. in terms of magic, i wanna see folklore, spells, otherworlds, mythical creatures! idk it feels so low stakes and lame and i hate that bc i love the actresses :( 1

charmed 2.0 p2: and i see the potential. i love the magicians but i get that all shows cant be that but to me thats golden standard! also imagine THE SERVE it would have been if they actually explored macy x abi?? esp w macy relating to her being half demon as well? but we all know having 2 gays (esp gay woc) is a pipe dream.. but the convos between mel and macy about that? also jada should have stayed and mel becoming a potion master? #iwannaseeitnowpls. anyway. imma still watch though lol

I would gladly sacrifice magic if they wanted to spend more time on the sisters but instead we just got a half-baked search for new magic. It’s not as if what they have now is cooler, it’s not as if they explored what the changes in powers meant to them, how the loss of the old ones affected them, it was just the new writers getting rid of the old show so they can have their command room and make fun of safe spaces.

It does feel low stakes, it’s all just so random and new, and because we know how easily they severed everything from before, we have no reason to not believe they’ll do the same again. Why does it matter where they live? Apparently it doesn’t.

Hah, Macy and Abigael, their first meeting was so interesting and even aside from the sparks between them, they wrote Abigael as an ally and then didn’t just drop that because she was tricking them, I guess that was fun for an ep, but then made them both fight over Harry. But yes, I could never expect this show to go with TWO queer main sisters. God, though, you’re right, the way Mel and Macy could have talked about it, I’ve always wanted two super main characters to be queer, so we can get the kind of thing that Station 19 just did, with a nod to the fact that there are multiple people going through their own journeys but they still have shared experiences too. If I was out and knew another out gay person in my own group, the things we’d talk about!

But fine, they weren’t going to go there. Then why not set up Mel and Abigael from the start?? They’ve barely interacted, even on the missions they went on together! I mean, I’m behind by a few eps still and clearly now they’re adding more but why’d it take that time? Like throwing together the spares.

Honestly, I’ve been trying to catch up but it just makes me so angry, the amount of interiority and depth they allow Harry, how much of a journey he gets, that none of the other sisters do, especially not Mel. Most of Macy’s story is just about Hacy, and Maggie’s is about her guys. The show has become such a disappointment.

yes on Charmed 2.0! it was shaky but I thought it found it’s ground in s1. but gooood it’s gone so far downhill. thought we would get like, more magic and some sisterly bonding(will mel and macy ever like talk? find out in episode 100 … maybe??) but it’s all about fucking Harry and sometimes Macy (who is my fave) but only if she’s standing nex tp Harry. who is also too old for her. and god they do nothing with mel. im so frustrated with the show but i continue because i foolishly have hope lol

I knowwww. It’s gonna sound silly but my friend and I used to excitedly gush about this show back in the first season, the things it was doing, the way it centered the sisters, didn’t make fun of them for being angry or hurt, took them seriously. Now it’s just so much more mean-spirited, and obviously the pivot to center on the white dude and the white villain has been extremely off-putting. I like Abigael but not to this extent. I don’t know which writer is in love with Harry but the way the characters constantly have to praise him and make him seem irresistible, uh, ease off. And to make Macy all about him now, like, what about her? And yes, yes, the way they’ve sidelined Mel has been so disappointing. Unless there’s a big change BTS, I don’t see the show going back to how it was, but it’s good to have hope, heh.

And another anon:

Not the same charmed anon but I need to vent for a second. It does look like they’re moving toward Abigael & Mel being a thing but it’s SO forced. Macy & Abigael have all the chemistry, they just seem so set on putting Macy & Harry together and it’s awful.

Yeah, Macy and Abigael had noticeable sparks, but well, Macy’s a woman, Harry’s a man, it’s just inevitable! Feh. That’s the saddest part, that even in s1, when Gal was around, we KNEW what would happen and then of course they went there. It just hammers in even more how for f/f ships we have to be like, well, friendships, how deep, it’s more than romance, they can’t just write it because the fans want it, while m/f ships will happen no matter what.

Hey, Charmed (2018), i think Mel and Abby will be together.

Oh? You mean THE HARRY SHOW (2018)? Sorry, sorry, I don’t mean to take it out on you but if i sound bitter, it’s because I am. I hate the shift they started in 1b and completed in s2.

But anyway, that’s interesting, I guess. I haven’t actually stayed caught up on it but just last night I moved it to the top of my list to watch next. I’ll keep an eye out for that.

I stopped watching charmed reboot when they pulled that bs on Niko. Plus, I hate the vibe the 2nd season has, and hacy…I’m not a hacy hater, but the show has been over taken by their potential relationship and I’m just not here for that. They had me the entire first season, but no mas, they messed with my fav girl, Niko and I’m just not gonna support a show that lies and distroys perfectly good qwoc relationships.

Well, Katrina (the new love interest) is also a QWOC, but I take your point. As soon as they said last season that they were going in this new direction, it was worrisome, like, obviously nobody wants bad plots for a show, but for them to make such a point about how they’re going to focus more on that, it showed such a shift in priorities. Like, they had intricate plots last season, so they’re going to increase that even more and take away time from…?

And now it’s come to fruition. I mean, when was the last time the three sisters had a heart to heart? Last season it was all the time, Harry was still there, it was a family of four, but now it’s split into two, Macy and Harry on the one side and Mel and Maggie on the other.

And them cutting out what they spent the first season building, Niko, Gal, even Parker, it’s…kind of disrespectful. To the previous writers and actors but also to us. We liked that, we were the audience who watched from the start, why are they removing it and for what? To appeal to who?

Oop I’m glad I read your posts that s2 is a soft reboot of Charmed. The second half was bad enough that I still haven’t watched the finale, so I’m glad I know not to bother. I hated Harry and Harry/Macy is gross to me so imma go ahead and skip the show now. Sad that the first half of s1 had so much potential and they just ruined it. On brand for a cw show tho so I’ll learn my lesson eventually lol. Or I guess I already have, that was the last cw show I was watching.

Sorry, you sent this about a month ago, but I just remembered it and wanted to respond because, buddy, so far, you have made the correct decision. I wouldn’t say it’s a CW thing necessarily, focusing too much on white guys isn’t only their issue, but maybe in hiring people who continue to prioritize them, that is something they could work on, they have more scope for allowing diversity than the big four.

This rebrand has centered Harry to such an extent, by screentime and plot, I would not be wrong in calling him the lead of season 2! For Charmed, for the Charmed reboot that was going to be about three WOC, to center on a white guy this much, not pleased.
