What do you think of Juliantinas using Demi and Kristian a real relationship to promote Maca and Barbara being on Ellen? To see comment like “ok nice but how about Barbie and Maca” was messed up. I mean these are actresses doing their jobs what makes them groundbreaking enough to earn that and be compared to D and K? We stay doing the most for straights who dgaf about us beyond us giving them careers and ignoring our own community members.

Do you mean on like, Youtube videos of Demi on Ellen? I suppose I wouldn’t really see it as “using”. She already made her appearance, those comments aren’t going to affect what happens to her after either way, they’re not going to hurt her chances of getting more appearances.

I don’t know the minds of the people making those comments, but I don’t think it’s a matter of the Juliantina actresses being comparable,

I just assume this is an effort they’ve carried on for a while on various videos and they might have jumped harder on this one because it’s also f/f-related content.

I think most of us have at least some straight actors and artists we like and might even go to some trouble for, and I’m guessing part of this Ellen push for the Juliantina actors is just because people like them that much. But also, if you like Demi and Kristian and want good things for them, that’s partly because they’ve done something brave and raised awareness and pushed boundaries, right? Aside from simply being fans of the Juliantina actresses, I’d assume there is a similar line of reasoning for them too.

I’m just not really seeing the harm in this kind of campaign. At worst it’ll just be ignored? It’s not damaging Demi in the eyes of anybody.

Why is Kristian and Demi’s authenticity even questioned? I am lost. They weren’t created on the show they were dating outside of the show for months. I would be a bit suspicious if they met on the show and Demi had never been interested in women and they decided to get engaged after 2 weeks, but that’s not the case at all. Demi is from smalltown Texas, on a show popular with conservative Trumpsters who were ruining her life since Kristian arrived, why would she fake that? What would she gain?

I suppose there’s a distrust of anything related to reality shows, including the other couples. I don’t know if any of your points would be proof enough for the reality show conspiracy theorists, they’d just not believe anything.

But you could conjecture all kinds of things based on not only the typical reality show distrust but a healthy dose of homophobia in this case, so I don’t know that I want to dwell on that. My initial post on this topic was to an ask where my whole point was I did think it was real, that was the conclusion that long post was arriving at. And that’s how I’m approaching it still.

I gotta say this is the first time i’m offended at something you post. That question about Demi and Kristian being fake and your answer are a bit too much. To see a lesbian having the same position as homophobic haters isn’t a good look at all. Demi and Kristian have been seeing each each since January you can see that clearly from their insta interactions months ago so they didn’t meet yesterday and decide to fake it and get hated on. Fyi Demi was outed by her ex months ago.

My position of saying I did think they were real? I’d expect some bits were worked around for narrative convenience since it is a TV show but I definitely landed on the real side?

Reading back my post, I guess I implied they’re only as real as any reality show couple can be, which, okay, correction, I do think they’re more real than most other couples from reality shows. But the rest of my post definitely implies I do think it’s real? The hypothetical about me not caring even if it wasn’t was just to show how much I wasn’t actually invested in trying to figure it out either way.
