Hi, I’m new here. To the Juliantina ship that is, but almost all caught up with the novela. Quick question, is it just me or does Lupita know without having to be told? Like you can sort of tell by her reactions that she knows something’s going on between Val & Juls but then tries to brush it off?

Hey buddy, welcome! 🙂

It feels like she does know? But that would make the way she handled Juls’s attitude after the fight with Val even crueler? “Oh, I knew this’d happen, you’re from different worlds” and all that. Like?? Well, maybe she thought it’d be kinder to minimize it. i don’t know, it really feels like she knows at some points, that she doesn’t even mind at others, and then seems kind of clueless or trying to will it into being something else.

IDK even kana didn’t really give this level of focus and attention that juliantina are getting. They did certain parts really well but then went back to old tropes or put them back in the background when it seems they were getting in the way of other storylines. It didn’t feel like they were a priority. Juliantina feels different because even though they’re secondary characters, they’re still integrated in the plot when their love story isn’t the focus.

For sure, I can think of maybe a handful of ships where if you took the two characters out, they’d fundamentally change the story (Clexa, Shoot, Heartless, Killjoys, Harlots…? I feel like the show could continue without Isabella…but I dunno, her bro is the series-long big bad…), but Corrie is a soap. That’s different. You could take out any character or family and the show would still be what it was.

We all knew Kate and Rana were junior characters, and yeah, there were some missteps but we can and kind of have to love ships even if they’re not the one and only best of all time. And I did love them. I loved how relatively wholesome they actually were, for a soap ship that started on an affair, I loved the individual characters and how they interacted within the ship, I loved the soulmate treatment they got.

But also, looking at that ELKDTAL MV, I’ll miss the desiness of Kana too. To be able to listen to desi songs and actually match them with a happy, canon ship, to think of all the little desi things that could fit with them even if we never saw it on screen, to share that all with shippers from other cultures.

I’m sad as the next juliantina, but honestly not disappointed in juls at all. if i were in the same position, thinking i was bringing turmoil, shame, bullying, literal bodily danger to my loved one’s life, i think I’d 99% make the same decision… i relate to juls bc she’s pragmatic lol. also val herself said “I’d rather you were safe and far away, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt me” so it’s interesting those words are applying to juls now

Ooooh, that’s a great connection, anon. And later that same day when Juls brought up not being there, Val was like, nooo, I’d die. It is that hard to make that decision, that sacrifice.

is amar a muerte actually good? or should i just watch the juliana/valentina scenes?

Heh, that’s a loaded question. It really depends on what you enjoy and your tolerance for certain things. I think if you really enjoy Juliantina, the rest of the show deepens them. You see them with other characters, in other situations, their part in the main plots.

Unusually, I’d say the f/f is probably written the best. The characters and their storyline develop naturally and directly. I like Lucia, Jacobo, Eva, Mateo, Guille, and Renata but the rest of the show isn’t as well done, to me, as Juliantina. I don’t think, even if it had proper full subs, I’d watch the whole show if Juliantina didn’t exist. But it does, with both the characters in pretty big roles, and everything they touch is somehow improved by it. The Carvajal scenes with Val, for example, are kind of great.

If you haven’t started the show yet, maybe watch the first eps and see how you feel. They don’t meet till 9, 10 eps in, so if you don’t like the first eps, you can skip ahead.

Or, you can take this anon’s advice:

I highly suggest to the people who only watch juls and Val scenes to watch the rest of the show it’s actually good and very entertaining

Hey do you know where can i find juls scenes without val with English subtitles. I’ve read tht juls is really sassy and rude with others and is only soft with val and sometimes her mom.(hence the juls is top theories). It would be great to re-watch their scenes and see how different she really is with val.

Oh, is that what decides who’s a top, lol. Hmm, I wouldn’t say rude, necessarily, although their landlady kind of deserves it.

You remember how she was with Sergio when they met, right? Here’s an early interaction with Panchito: https://wlext.net/series/amar-a-muerte?server=gounlimitedto&episode=013 Skip to 24:47. Sorry the subtitles are so rough. She’s just kinda brusque, like putting up a wall. When you consider her life, it makes so much sense, she can’t let herself get attached to or depend on anyone.

She really did connect instantly with Val in a way she hasn’t with anybody else, and Val with her.

So, I started watching AAM around ep 50 and didn’t really think I needed to rewatch from the beginning (juliantina scenes) because the gifs did the talking. Anyway, I finally watched it all from the beginning (thanks All the Lilies lol) and I’m actually sat here flailing at their development. They are so soft and loving from the beginning. And you see them both slowly fall in love, in very different ways. I absolutely cannot get enough and I have you to thank for introducing me to them.

I’m glad you came to your senses, anon! To miss the pre-50 Juliantina scenes in all their actual glory? That would have been tragic, that was some of their best stuff. I may be biased, as a build up lover, but they had so many great scenes then! So many great scenes after too. Ah, we’ve been lucky.

And of course, it’s been very my pleasure to get into them.

Sergio/Renata and Lucia/Jacobo don’t have a personal slot in the amar a muertes website like juliantina does. Legends only

Hah, I’m trying to remember when that section was added but it is hilarious. I love it, they were like, this thing is taking OFF.

You got the latest episode, the menu for previous episodes, then All About Juliantina. The hits they must be getting, the search results that must be leading there. They did the work to set them up, not knowing the response, and now they’re reaping the benefits.

i really don’t see why jacobo being juliana’s dad complicates the situation, concerning juliantina or the show in general. i mean juliana didn’t know he worked there until today

But the Carvajals might not believe Juliana didn’t know. It is a pretty unlikely coincidence, somehow Juliana and her dad both ingratiate themselves into the family and don’t know that the other is involved? Maybe everything Juls said before was a lie. From their suspicious POV, I mean, obviously the audience knows better.

It’s going to be odd, though, because Jacobo’s saved them a bunch of times. They can’t believe he’s in league with all these bad guys he’s saved them from, or faked this all with Servando Armanta just to play the hero, going so far as to kill him.Â
