While the episode was angst as hell I notice a few things people didn’t praise on here and is that with all that shit going on Val didn’t drink. Also, she never stood to Lucho until he mention Juliana. She usually let him do things and I think both of this things are amazing as her character.

You’re right, anon. That was pretty tough as far as days go but she stuck it out and was even able to argue back against Eva’s literal conversion therapy idiocy. Usually in plots like this the characters are left with some doubt but she absolutely turned it around on Eva and stood her ground. She showed a lot of strength today, honestly, there’s some steel behind all that fluff. AND she did stand up to Lucho for Juls. A lot of standing up for Val yesterday. 🙂

I didn’t really mind the missed call so much, in the context of the ep. If she had answered she would have sounded so upset, she would only have upset Juls further. Though she does need to call her back, girl is justifiably worried.

Lol here I am passing the time waiting for the new juliantina episode videos to be posted and I happen to walk past my mom’s room and she’s watching amar a muerte too. I got super giddy. I really wish I could talk to her about it but she’s very close-minded. I really wonder how juliantina is affecting her though. Sorry just wanted to share it with someone!

Aww! That must have needed a double take.

I’d say that you could join her anyway and discuss the rest of the show, but I wouldn’t want you to have to put up with anything homophobic she might say. Very neat, though. If we ever get frustrated at how it’s going (which, at the moment we very much are not), we have to remember who the show’s actual audience is.

I feel like eva is projecting on val her fear of people finding out about her affair with a drug lord

Yeah, that’s probably a part of it. I hope so, otherwise it’s a bit unconscionable. How can she talk about reputations and scandal while she’s doing what she’s doing? I really don’t know what her ending will be like. She’s not bad enough to kill off, right? If this is a show about bad people being rehabilitated, she should get another chance. The affair will most like out, and then, we don’t know.

I like how Eva’s husband brought up the fact that she was perfectly fine having a f/f relationship or dalliance in her youth. But when it comes to her sister wanting a full on relationship with juliana she gets all concerned about how people will perceive it and the reputation it brings on Valentina and the family as a whole. Which I get to an extent being where they are however it is presumably 2018/19. Also Zeroty is slowly uploading their clips from yt to vimeo. vimeo.c0m/zeroty

But I think she’s actually not fine with that in her past, she probably regrets it and looks down on that of her past. The bigger thing is the affair she’s having with a cartel head. That seeeems like it might bring a bit more scandal.

Also, cool, thanks for the heads up, I’ll add that as a note.

i would love an extension of the show bc i dont want to give up Juliantina but story wise since they are already done filming, it doesn’t seem likely and it’s pretty clear from this show.. there is a definite goal and storyline and once it is done, you really can’t go back. Actually, i hope bc of the popularity of the show that Maca & Barbi get a magazine cover & continue to challenge censorship in Mexico. That’d be dope.

Yeah, stories that you have to force aren’t as good.

It’ll be interesting what happens in the aftermath, they’re currently riding a wave of popularity and goodwill. helped by how personable and appealing they are and how sympathetic and wholesome the ship is. Will other series and networks want to cash in? Will either of these two play f/f roles again any time soon? We’ll have to see where we are when it all ends, I guess.

Quick history lesson: back in the 90’s televisa’s telenovelas were around 80-90 episodes if the telenovela was really successful they will add 10-20 episodes which was possible because sometimes telenovelas wrapped their filming the same week the finale aired. Then the length of hit shows got out of hand, some telenovelas aired for a couple of years having 160-200 episodes so Televisa was very criticized for lowering the quality of the products and people stop watching telenovelas

So they changed the strategy, they limited all their telenovelas to 80-90 again and they filmed way before it was aired so they couldn’t change much. But when a Telenovela has a lot of impact in the audience they get the green light for a “second season” but is more like, instead of having a super long telenovela with 160 episodes, you have the telenovela showed in two or three different phases.

Good to know, although in the case of here, I’m not sure how it’d affect things? Wouldn’t it be difficult to get these actors back together for another new season? And it’s such a definitive premise, you’d think it would be hard pressed to find a new plot for them. I don’t want either of my girls dead or switching bodies. 😡
