And I actually really did like this corruption vs crusading journalists thread through this show of death and family and gays. They can’t kill ALL the good journalists, can they? Will it inspire Eva to come clean and kind of take over?

Hope you’re having a good day and I don’t really want to treat you as a knowledge base, but I showed this to a friend of mine and she (very much into the show now) asked me why Val and Guille don’t have any money and I… don’t actually know? Do you know why Eva seems to have all of it? I really thought the money was supposed to be split evenly amongst them, but then suddenly, Guille has no money for tires afte rmoving out?

I think that was actually Guille’s choice, to be all independent and make his own way. Val still has her money. That’s why she offered to buy him tires, lol.
Oh, I have a plot question! Do we like Lucia? I’ve only seen her interact with Val a little but they seem to have a good relationship? On the other hand she killed Leon so is she good or bad? And does Leon know Lucia killed him? If he does, is he not mad?
We do, we do like her.
She’s definitely flawed and has made mistakes but she gets a lot of narrative sympathy. Not only does she get those flashbacks to Leon that show she’s missing him, something that endears her to the audience, we also get glimpses of her background, where she was forced into prostitution by her mom. So a lot of her need for security and acceptance come from that.
Also, she didn’t kill Leon, she thought they were going to steal from him, but Johnny jumped the gun and had Leon killed. She’s continued protecting him so of course she’s not an innocent victim in it but I would say that we’re meant to root for her to finally find some happiness with Jacobo/Leon.
Just read and interview that Barbara did and she said she was auditioning for Eva! can you imagine !
No way. I cannot! I mean, yes, I’m sure she would have been able to do the charismatic semi-villain thing but Val’s older sister? Then who would have been the intense, scrappy kid with a secret heart of gold?? And you can’t just find that chemistry and ease with anybody. The casting directors need medals.

Oh, I didn’t think about that, but yeah! Chino’s been a good dad to Val without her even knowing and Beltran’s being a (mostly) good dad to Beltran’s kid. Meanwhile, Juls just gets poorly treated or ignored or even avoided by them all. :

I’d love that, tbh, I like him and Lucia and I’d love for Val finding out her dad’s alive not be like on his deathbed or something. She loved him so much, it’s going to be insane how much it’ll hurt her to lose him again.
