Piggy backing off that anon talking about the first kiss and then the awkward looking at each other cut, I’ve always been so confused by the Valle house scenes after Lucho/Sergio catch them. How do they go from the couch to Val drinking on the floor? Then, how on earth do they go from forming a pact and looking somewhat happy again to Val staring out a window mad and upset and drinking again?

Ah, that first anon brought up the kiss in reply to my tags on a post about them in Valle precisely BECAUSE I was like, how did this even come about?

I can understand the first moment, draw a clear connection between Val being worried, reassured by Juls on the sofa but eventually standing up and being like, I need a drink and then ending up where we see them next. That’s a a reasonable enough jump. But then we’re supposed to believe she does literally the same exact thing after being the one to reassure Juls? Why didn’t she just stay drinking seated where we first saw her? And how did her mood go down again so quickly? 

It’s not that I find it an impossibility, it’s just that it was an important part of the story and character and relationship we missed.

thank you for giffing angry val at valle for me. i know it isn’t the most fun of moments but overall i don’t think val gets that angry very often so it stood out to me. plus, that outfit was a+.

It was no problem! Hmm, when I think on it, my reluctance wasn’t so much that it was an uncomfortable moment, it’s because, like I said above, I just didn’t really connect with it in the same way I did other angry Val moments, like in the second kitchen scene or talking to Juls about Sergio or after the breakup when she was still a little miffed. 

It’s not that I can’t stand Val being angry at Juls, obviously I don’t love it, but I kind of like seeing that side of her and it’s not about her being right and Juls being wrong, the best writing is when both sides are understandable and justified, but that one bit did not particularly feel earned to me from the show. I got what they were going for, they actually handled the resolution of it quite well, it being clear it was far more about Val’s fears of being outed than how she felt about Juls, but they could have written more in. 

As always, the answer to every issue I’ve had with Juliantina is: more screentime! 😛

I’d say it would be her parent’s house more than hers, I think she lives in an apartment with Gonzo. Still, she’s basically a real-life Carvajal, lmao. But also… was that her family’s house? I assumed it was a hotel or something? That’s kind of creepy… how’d that fan find her address to send the band… I know the fan only meant well, but… I would be terrified…

Her house, her parents’ house, same thing in a lot of places, lol. 

About the fan knowing the address, I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s too widely known? And they didn’t seem scared but instead rather appreciative, so maybe it’s just like, a few fans who know that they actually know fairly well?

have you continued watching the OA? if so, do not, under any circumstances, let yourself get spoiled for s2!! and how are you enjoying it? Did you know it was developed aurally instead of as a written story? And when pitching to execs, the creators told the entire story aurally, acting it out over several hours? I think you can see that in the show kinda

I did finish s1 and just barely started on s2 before the week’s shows started up but lol, someone I follow has been liveblogging s2, although it’s more her feelings about it than specific spoilery things, so I’m still fairly in the dark.

I do actually remember reading that! It’s interesting, after another big Netflix cancellation and seeing more about how it renews shows, to also get an insight into how it picks up shows, because my gosh, how niche and oddball is this show. How meta, though, that it developed and was pitched the same way the story unfolds.

Barbara is just so humble??? Like how are you that rich, can act, can sing, can move, have that face and body, be sweet, shy, laid back, sexy, chaotic, loving, chill, thoughtful, have a good fashion sense, empathetic, a willingness to be a better and more knowledgeable person, appreciative, like how can she have and be all that and still be so humble? She’s good people. I love her

I mean…yeah, heh. I don’t have much to add. 

Like, some of those qualities, being rich and being talented and gorgeous and all that, yeah, it’s cool that in a world where those things too often make people arrogant and disconnected, she’s so gracious and kind. But those are all due to luck, it’s those other ones you mentioned, that specific graciousness and kindness, the empathy, the willingness to learn and be more aware and better, those are what really define a person, the things you have to make a choice on. I don’t really know how she did end up being this humble and openly grateful to her circumstances and fans, but it’s so lovely to see.

No problem, buddy. 

I mean, of course nothing is certain, if on the very off chance there is one, maybe she will be after all, if Lucia has transmigrated, that could mean her body is housing somebody new, or she could pop in for some Alexis Ayala type cameos but most likely is that there won’t be any season 2 at all and even if there is, she won’t be in it.
