Ahhh, okay, I’m going to be perfectly honestly and just say upfront that that kind of thing gives me–not secondhand embarrassment but something akin to it, like, I’m sooo fine with fiction, but a real person’s real words? It just…some part of me rebels so strongly at people trying to put their own interpretation on that.
But, but, putting that aside, for YOU, anon, I did watch it through and try to compartmentalize and it was pretty great! The words were fantastic, like god, what a writer, and of course Jodie Comer is absolutely made for this, honestly it won me over by the end. I miiight have had had to imagine she was playing a different character, though. 😛
Poll anon here. I get that i think it makes sense not to have many hopes until we see it. But i also think they were setting it up with the litle things here and there, and making a post like that without meaning to go there would just be tone deaf to literally everything queer fans have been saying. The end game thing is mostly cause the creator said he wanted 5-7 seasons so if it happens too soon i dont think it will go through all those (if they get them) 1/?
2/2 Also Ava as a character still has a lot to grow we saw how she was with JC and how she craves someone to care and love her. Same with Beatrice, she is more mature but that girl really needs to grow and start accepting herself. So i’m keeping my expectations low on the end game front untill we see how they see them up. And i say WHEN cause at this point to me its really just a matter of time

Oh, you know, even when I was saying their relationship is so balanced, I was thinking, it is a lot of Beatrice still patiently explaining things to Ava, Ava’s such a novice at literally everything. Anyone compared to her would be more mature, but Bea is like, Miss Sensible, so well-balanced and knowledgeable…except when it comes to this, lol. They’re both novices together. If they go there, I don’t think Ava’ll have to struggle through her internalized homophobia in the way Beatrice has, because she’s had to deal with just so, so much, this is just one minor new thing, but it’s defined Beatrice’s life, and as you said, she needs to learn to accept herself. She seems to have taken a huge step toward that, though, and like, no matter where they go, I expect s2′ll have more of that, so I can’t wait!
Dont know if you have seen it yet but the creator of WN made a poll on twiter for Ava/Beatrice ship name so i will be really suprised if they dont go there eventually. Now if they will be endgame is another thing but at the very least canon probably

Lol, right! I was worried for her at first, especially when she would lose her guns, but then she’d win anyway. I’m sure Lilith would sniff and call it street fighting or whatever but lol, Mary kept beating her ass. Poor Lilith, even Ava, who barely paid any attention, was able to get away from her. But now Lilith’s got legit demon(?)-based superpowers so who won in the end!
The women of the warrior nun ?? I love them so much! Also the whole episode with just Ava and Mary was so so good. My fav episode! Also rooting for Ava x Beatrice. I feel like Beatrice is going to become a fan fav, I know she’s mine already. (the badass moment when they needed to get that shield back from the lab)
I know! At first, I was like, Mary and Beatrice, *immediate hearteyes*. Then Camila, Lilith, Ava, Jillian, Mother Superion. Hell, I love Chanel, granted I still don’t really understand why we had to see that much of JC’s crew, if they weren’t going to play a part in the rest of it. If we had to put up with them as part of Ava’s intro, then I’m not sure why we needed the voiceover. Give us one or the other, somebody to bounce off of or just her internal thoughts, we didn’t need both. But since we did get them, would have been fun to see Chanel and Zori be recruited into the sisterhood, Chanel being super enthusiastic while Zori would have made Ava’s journey look smooth.
The Mary + Ava ep was GREAT! I think it did more for Ava’s growth than any other single ep and tbh, it was a relief to move more heavily into the bigger mythology arc and away from the “I’m going to keep running away despite this incredibly weird supernatural stuff that is still clearly following me around.” And it was good to see Mary’s side of things too, and the beginning of that particular kind of relationship, a lot of tough love from Mary, but love all the same.
I think Beatrice already has, lol, and it helps that we liked her even before she was revealed as the gay one. I have to assume that she didn’t get her own moment to shine in the finale because of the shield job, it was awesome. I’m actually kind of curious why she’s not considered for the halo, she’s a great warrior, possibly their best, a great leader, both compassionate and strategic minded, she even has the family background. I think she might have been too young to be considered for it? She speaks of Shannon being nicer to the new recruits, so I’m assuming it’s Mary and Shannon as one generation, then Lilith, then Bea, then Camila. And of course the halo went off to pick rando Ava, which, that’s the story needed to make the show. In-universe the explanation might be that the halo sensed how conflicted and distracted she was by dealing with her sexuality, and that she just doesn’t seem to want that kind of responsibility or duty, serving more as a really strong second in command. I just really love how complex and well defined and lovable they all are!

They really had ivy with kite guy (!!! HIM????) and she woulda gone thru w the wedding & pushes Harley away and we didn’t get a single moment of her internal processes w it all even tho we got a literal song about ocean shit for king shark ??? I cannot imagine shipping them for a decade and seeing Ivy as how y’all have described her and then seeing her with this dude. I mean, I can’t imagine THIS character with him. I think we just gotta accept that sometimes they just want their faves and humor and to NOT be serious and consistent and process stuff? I guess? Like that lyric says. As long as they focus on Harley and Ivy in the end, we have to accept the other things these particular people want. Like, I’m already side eyeing what they might do with Gordon, in the wake of the current situation.
The more time passes, the more I come around on the HQ finale. I had high expectations because I loved ep 12 so I was annoyed that we had a time skip and didn’t SEE any of the fall out. And of course that Kiteface was the one who broke it off – I do wish we’d seen more from Ivy. BUT the ending is just so romantic and lovely! And I’d seen the original car from the BTAS episode in the 90s so it hit me hard! And the colors!! Plus, Ivy’s face in the confession got me too :)
Anon! Honestly, same?? I mean, I’m never going to not wish it’d been more, but I also have been thinking on it and realizing I’ve been judging it a lot for what it didn’t have, like you said, the fallout, more discussion, which, there should/could have been, but them skipping it, them making different decisions and prioritizing different things from what I want doesn’t make a thing automatically bad, right.
But having said all that as a little disclaimer, lol, with distance, I’ve warmed to it. Which I’m grateful for, since often it can go the other way. As you said, the ending did a WHOLE lot of heavy lifting and will definitely be what I remember from the ep. And maybe that’s because, as I keep saying, everything that came before could have come at any point in the last few episodes, Harley offering something, Ivy turning her down. Once Harley had her big moment in the pit, the narrative became more about Ivy’s decision, and since we didn’t even really see her come around to make it in the finale until that ending (and ignoring that KM jump-started it), it’s really the significant moment from the whole thing.
BUT. That doesn’t make everything before it unimportant, it was all a part of getting to there. I understand why it wasn’t an immediate decision for Ivy as well, maybe each time Harley helped her or chose her, it lowered her guard a little more, and then her actually saving her wedding and willing to marry them was the biggest sign, how much she was willing to put Ivy first. Like, I can appreciate that even as I have my own different wishes.
i sent in the first post so long ago i actually forgot until i saw it just now in the maya/carina tag, but i’m the person who said i was surprised no one died lol and like yeah quite a few people died in s3 but in greys s4 was when they started really going for the core 5 interns like the MAIN main characters so i am crossing my fingers we don’t lose anyone next season but tbh i’m 90% sure if anyone goes it’ll be jack or Travis bc they’ve run out of stories for them :/
Oh, wow, that was a while ago. But it feels like just the other day too…covid times, huh. Anyway, well, that’s kind of worrying, lol. As we both acknowledged, s3 had so many deaths, if they’re going to start biting into the core firefighter cast, that’s gonna suck.
I wouldn’t say any character’s run out of stories, but of course that is quite different from the writers having run out of things they want to write for a character. Travis still kind of seems to have something, especially if they keep Emmett, but Jack really was treading water a bit there, mostly to be used for others’ stories. And his bonding with that little family kind of makes it worse, because unless they become much more significant, that’s not plot, that’s a bit of a goodbye. Maya just finished her big story, things are gonna be quiet for her for a while, I assume. But honestly, as much as I don’t care for Jack, they’ve all lost too much and I hope the writers realize that the viewers are themselves gonna be so exhausted and depressed in general, watching more death and grief is gonna suck.
