I didn’t notice that Camila is the one that realized Melanie’s story. And she gave the book and look smiling at Ava and Beatrice

And another anon:

I thinks camila knows

Yeah! I really liked that little moment from her and how much it conveyed, not only that people knew, but they didn’t all disapprove. And I do think she knew, it was too deliberate and specific to mean anything else. I don’t imagine they’d ever talked about it before, but she leapt at the chance to show Beatrice that not only was a previous halo-bearer a lesbian, the halo actually got more powerful when she accepted what she was.

I was the first anon to bring up JC=Jesus Christ but oh my god I do not want that baby storyline, so sorry to putting that type of energy out there lmao

And another anon:

Lol sorry, years of Catholic school have primed me to see how Catholicism operates and it’s very much w women as mothers or whores and not the heroes of the story. But to be fair this show seems more critical of Catholicism than bound to its premises. But yes, I don’t think a pregnancy storyline is likely. Far more likely that they bring back JC as a savior figure, which I still really don’t want but season 1 was enjoyable so I’ll hope next season stays focused on the women.

Haha, no worries, anons. Hopefully. We’ll know who to blame if it happens… =_=

But yeah, this show seems to be straddling an interesting line where it’s not really condemning religion in itself but is certainly ready to examine the individual humans who follow it. I hope it actually does allow the more devout sisters to keep their faith next season, even if there are huge upheavals along the way. But it definitely doesn’t seem to think that women should be sidelined for men, so hopefully we can count on that.

Do you think that after the recent interviews with warrior nun creator is Avatrice really going to happen?

___

Me:

I honestly really don’t know. It could really go either way. Obviously they’re super aware of it and hopefully are going to be careful how they approach it, whether or not they do it, but it could come down to anything. Whether someone in the writer’s room is a strong enough advocate for it, if there’s NOT other major f/f they think they’d be repeating while they’re brainstorming, if some Netflix exec thinks they should do it.

They do seem, in these interviews, to be leaning more and more toward it, but I just really could not say one way or the other till s2 actually airs.

Do you know of Skins? Emily and Naomi. It’s super old now, but was a big thing for me growing up gay lol.

It’s not that old, anon, heh. Who doesn’t know Naomily, of course, but oh, oh, this is a good example to that anon who was like, oh, I’ve never seen you post non-canon. I mean, I didn’t watch until after the peak Naomily years, but I was more into…Keffy. >_> I don’t know why, something about their dynamic spoke to me. Maybe at the time I wasn’t really ready for real coming out arcs. But yes, of course, Naomily are iconic and important to gay media history in general, as well as to so many of my friends.
