Amar a Muerte – 1×56 – Deleted shower scene
“perdón, mi amor, perdón” that’s what she says
Anon. Has. Spoken! ‘Tis not me you have to convince, anon, it’s the translator. And her word is the law.
It’s okay, I do hear it too sometimes, but I wonder if it’s just wishful thinking, I don’t know :P The first time I watched it, I heard only “perdon”, but it is definitely open for discussion
For what it’s worth, anyone who’s commented on it that I’ve seen has said they hear the mi amor first up. But as much as I try to LaurelYanny myself into trying to hear the perdon at first, the first couple of times always seem like mi amor.
Is it wishful thinking? Even perdon is so sweet in this context, she was the one who was attacked but after she takes like a split second to collect herself (and then jumping to lock the door–a frighteningly real little detail), she’s just thinking of Juls? That’s pretty great either way.
Yeah, about last night’s scene, I’m thinking about translating that to just “I’m sorry” said again and again by Val, because, even if I would’ve liked that she had said “mi amor” (and I know that’s how most people want it to be translated) I think she didn’t, I think I hear her saying “perdon” repeatedly. But I’m not totally convinced yet haha
I did get an ask about that and to my super untrained ear it does sound like she says it! On the one hand, I’m not sure if she’d say that in those particular circumstances but on the other hand, is there anything swoonworthy Valentina Carvajal hasn’t said yet? And she is super focused on Juliana’s safety, her first thought when she sees Lucho is Juls and then she literally tries to block Juls from him (who is just as eager to get at Lucho to hopefully claw his face off, lol) and then she apologized to Juls after it all. So.
Headphones on, gun to my head…I think she says mi amor at first, and then possibly perdon after. I dunno, I dunno. Go with your gut! Don’t play to the masses!
Hello there. So, I’m the person who does the subtitles for zeroty’s channel and I just wanted to say that yes, I spent a lot of time wondering whether I should translate “hermanito” to “little brother” or not. But I honestly din’t come up with any other way to choose instead, so little brother it was. Translations are hard and sometime they’re reaaaally hard, because you look for a word to translate to and there just isn’t and you have to choose one that comes close to it at least. Just like (+)
(+) Just like “te quiero”, now that’s a hard expression to translate. It can mean a lot of things and you have to choose the one that sounds more fitting to that specific moment. So sometimes you can definitely find the same words or expressions translated differently depending on the whole context. I often come across moments that I have to wonder about what word or expression I’m going to use so the real meaning isn’t lost. I apologize for the mistakes and incongruities, though 🙂
Live shot of me at the thought of you apologizing:

I mean–I–…
FIRST OF ALL. Thank you so much for everything that you do! We all so appreciate your work and you guys set the standard for Juliantina vids. 🙂
And second, it wasn’t even a thought in my mind that there was anything wrong with the translations themselves, this is just something that comes with the territory. I’ve had discussions with the translators about the different ways to phrase things to convey the sentiment and make it sound fluid and natural while not changing too much and it is tough! And heh, yeah, I’ve already decided, after the troubles of “me encantas” that I’m gonna leave te quiero untranslated when I gif that bit. People will know. And if they don’t, they can google, lol. And the fast mover line at the end of the kitchen scene at the other night wasn’t great either.
But omg, like, the very thought that you would apologize for this totally free, totally helpful thing that you do??
What’s the deal with Mexico’s tv censorship?
Ah, well, I don’t have firsthand knowledge of it but I’m assuming that like in many countries, the Juliantina scenes that’ve even aired, excluding a whole damn shower scene, are really pushing the boundaries of what’s currently allowed in terms of same-sex intimacy. This will probably do a lot to actually increase what other series will be able to show.
This does seem a rite of passage for every country doing it’s First big same-sex couple. As is the fervent trending to get more content. 😛
Yes Barbara was in a morning talk show today and she said it was one of the hardest scenes to shoot or something like that but they cut it. Gotta love her she always spilling when they cut or censor a scene .
Dammnn. So it was the censors, huh. Nothing racy when sex is involved, only when it’s gonna be interrupted.
They cut the shower scene ??? I guess they censored it. Twitter is going crazy asking for it
Oh wow, there was one? No way.
One thing I noticed in that elevator scene is that juls was so ready to fight the guy when he made that one comment I forget what he said exactly and val basically had to hold her back lol. She’s definitely fiesty, which I guess with everything she’s gone through makes sense. I want to see more of that juls.
She got mad when he pretended to be sympathetic about her mom’s “death” and asked how it happened, since she knew he was responsible. She’s so protective of her mom. Which, given she’s literally the only person Juls has, and perhaps has ever had, yeah, as you said, it makes sense.
This thing with Val must be blowing her mind, especially who and what Val is. Oh, I did actually love her jumping in yesterday when Lucho attacked and then shouting at him to leave.

Loved that get outta here gesture.
But I dunno how much of confident/feisty Juls we’ll see again anytime soon. That move with Val re: the drinking kinda backfired. That’s probably the thing I hate most about the fight, what it’s going to do to Juls’s insecurities. Like yeah, she started off unsure but twice now, she’s said, hey, maybe we should take a break, and both times Val has very awesomely been like no way, this is the best thing in my life. But that last time, when bringing up the drinking and then throwing out wanting to leave…when has Val ever agreed about letting Juls go easily? Playfully and sometimes quite seriously, she constantly asks for Juls to stay, including that very morning. So I feel Juls is going to be on the back foot a bit now. 😡
So Valentina is probably just plain gay, but do you think Juls is bisexual?
Hmm, I could see both of them being either. That convo where they were discussing their past sexual experiences was pretty enlightening and if we were to follow it to its logical conclusion, Val never caring much for the sex she had with her boyfriends and Juls never being interested enough in anyone at all until Val, it’d probably be gay for both of them.
Buuut, I think that might be more…you know in these beginner stories, they kind of don’t even acknowledge bi as a thing? The writers could be working from that mindset. OR, also pretty typical, to sell the whole soulmate aspect, they weren’t particularly interested in anyone until they met each other. The show’s brought up the whole “are we gay?” and “with a woman?” thing enough that it is still about a sexual identity, even if both are ever only truly in love with each other on screen.
