i would love an extension of the show bc i dont want to give up Juliantina but story wise since they are already done filming, it doesn’t seem likely and it’s pretty clear from this show.. there is a definite goal and storyline and once it is done, you really can’t go back. Actually, i hope bc of the popularity of the show that Maca & Barbi get a magazine cover & continue to challenge censorship in Mexico. That’d be dope.

Yeah, stories that you have to force aren’t as good.

It’ll be interesting what happens in the aftermath, they’re currently riding a wave of popularity and goodwill. helped by how personable and appealing they are and how sympathetic and wholesome the ship is. Will other series and networks want to cash in? Will either of these two play f/f roles again any time soon? We’ll have to see where we are when it all ends, I guess.

I like that AtL acknowledges and is starting to deal with the issue of Val’s substance abuse. But I wonder if they’re ever gonna deal with the fact that Val tried to give Juls a pill without telling her what it was, and how Juls seemed a lil freaked out by that….

I don’t think they’ll specifically bring it up again, it’ll probably go under the umbrella of how they address it in general, you know, stop trying to use drinks and drugs to mask what you’re feeling and so on. I think the way it was handled in that ep, shut down so quickly, probably implies it was supposed to be considered a minor thing and not going to come back. 

But goddarn, that scene was so amazing to me, for the choices Barbara made as an actress and the choices Juliana made as a character. I hope you don’t mind if I expand on that a bit?

Juls was sooo taken aback by it. A million things probably went through her mind, Val knows her stance on this, was she deliberately challenging her, was she testing her, was this just a part of their friendship?

You can see her roll the pill over and consider her options and then decide this is just Val playfully giving her something that is fun for Val.

But I’ll always wonder why she chose that moment to play along, seemingly about to drink the water to chase it down until Eva came along and inadvertently saved her.

She’s been fine with refusing Val before, what made that moment different? Did she consider actually taking it and letting loose like these carefree rich kids for once? Was Val Like That too irresistible (though let’s face it, as if she could ever resist her)?

I included the last gif for meee, because Juls is super hot in that dress and also because I think the scene transition was really effectively done. In fact, we get a whole little story play out here, a subtle unexpected one, and Juls doesn’t say a single word. And then we see her spitting it out in the foreground as an end to it and the focus changing to Eva vs Val which had Juls then siding with Val and saving her. 

I don’t think they’ll bring it back but I kind of wish they would, if only to see how they’d discuss it in the context of how their relationship and they have changed since.

Are there any english fics for Juliantina? Thanks!

You know, I didn’t even think to look for them. When canon is doing so well, I find myself reading less. Even though it is often a kind of meta and filling in details.

Looks like AO3 hasn’t given them their own tag yet but people have started posting them. Hah, a con AU. I figured there’d be one like that. Ooh, a soulmate marking AU. I mean, is there any canon ship that works better for than these two?

Sorry you probably hate talking only about Amar a Muerte but I read an article that said Univision made it to compete with Telemundo at the 10 pm slot so if it did good they might bring it back

I’m from Mexico and I’m here to let you know that while telenovelas only last one season, Televisa has made a few changes with their “series” Actually when AAM comes to an end, there will be a second season of another telenovela. Maca and Barbs are encouraging us to be vocal about a second season in social media. So it’s possible. And I personally think they gonna do it bc they were having low ratings until Juliantina and Aristemo (mlm relationship)

So basically, we don’t really know anything for sure, lol, but things are changing, and AAM and Juliantina in particular are certainly standing out. 

Personally, the premise seems so wild to me, I feel like they started with this crazy premise and specifically wanted to finish it within this season. So a new season would either do a similar story with new characters or come back to these characters and have to work pretty hard to continue from where they would have left them.

So you’re kind of the juliantina queen and I feel like you’ll have a good answer. So when do you think was the exact moment each of them realized they liked each other as more than a friend?

Hah, am I though? </Thor> This is all mostly for the mere coincidence of me getting into the ship a fortnight before the migration.

And actually I don’t have a good answer, lol. It’s hard for me to say, the transitions between each stage of their relationship have been so seamless. But if the question is when they realized vs when they started liking each other, I think maybe it’s a little clearer? For example, Val watching Juls dancing was pretty significant, right, that was clearly a Moment, but I don’t think she really got it till later, the morning after Guille’s party. The thoughtfulness with which she was considering the previous night’s events (in a flashback, no less) seemed to imply some kind of realization and perhaps an explanation for some of her previous reactions and behavior. The girl had to tell Juls three separate times how good she looked in that dress.

Juls is harder, she’s deliberately so much more guarded about everything. I think by the time Guille’s party happened, she already knew. She wasn’t surprised where the feeling game was heading and her flashback the next morning seemed to inspire elation, her realization was that this was mutual. Both basically understood Val’s feelings after that night, lol. 

When did Juls realize herself? Ahhhh. I dunno. It could have been as early as when they were exchanging gifts that first time, if not earlier. It always stood out to me that the second time she came over, she was wearing lipstick. While visiting a friend whose stepmom had just been kidnapped. I mean……..

But I’m not married to any of these guesses, anybody could convince me otherwise pretty easily.
