There’s no Juliantina at all on that promo! And now I’m anxious!

I noticed! Yeah, I am not at all sure what to expect for them. I would almost wish there’s actually very little, just so they stay out of the drama and the bullets. They’ve survived two shootouts already, a third seems tough. Just show up at the start, be happy, then again at the end, continuing to be happy.

But they’re linked so tightly with all the main plot, Leon and Chino are going to drag them into their mess, I just know it!

I love how differently Val and Juls flirt. Like Val is so cheesy and dumb and romantic “you were my Prince Charming” “you look so pretty when you’re right” and Juliana is like sultry teasing and making eyes at Val

booasaur:

Lol, “cheesy and dumb”.

But it works every time because Juls is ridiculously in love with her dork.

The cutest thing is, Val does it deliberately to lighten the mood and get a laugh from her girl.

Juls, though, Juls is so much reluctant to put herself out there. She does it when she’s super confident. Say…after their first time?

Or after saying she needed space, Val being the one to come to her and tell her she didn’t mean it, demonstrating so clearly that she’s actually still so into her.

And her purpose is different, as is the end result, Val is so affected in a totally different way, lol. In those moments, the cute thing is that while Juls is definitely not looking to lighten the mood–rather the opposite–they enjoy the banter and flirting so much there’s still this joy that shines through.

#i love val’s go to for breaking them out of a heavy mood is to drop a cheesy line and #make juliana uncontrollably smile #while juls’ is getting val flustered and giddy #humor for the stoic girl and heart pounding romance for the one who didn’t believe in love #how dumb and fitting of them  (via @ginjointsintheworld)

I’m worried after watching El Chino’s scene with Juliana. Juliana stood up to him about Val, but I’m afraid she’ll try to distance herself from Val to keep her safe from El Chino’s threats. Thoughts?

Hmm, I don’t know if they’ll do a retread of the original breakup. I would hope that part of Juls’s arc has been to realize that there’s always going to be something, she should be with Val because she wants to be and they can’t control outside factors. But also, I don’t know if there’s enough time for that? Just two eps left, with much of that spent on presumably Beltran and Jacobo confronting Alacran and saving Eva and Mateo and then of course Johny/Lucia/Jacobo.

i haven’t seen the actual magnum commercial itself but that’s like freakin amazing how huge juliantina grew in such a short time. what i’d like or hope to see is if magnum has purchased more commercial airtime for the future such as during the finale on sunday night or even in other time slots. i think that will indicate how much mexico (at least companies in mexico) want to normalize gay relationships and change public opinion

Oh, well, that’s a good point. I assumed it’d air at other times, who would make a commercial to air it just once, not even during the last ep. Lol, now everyone in Mexico can play “catch the lesbian Magnum ad”.

We even got the signature “Val shoulder lean and smiling Juliana” for a personal touch and just in case anyone missed it. Also is not the first gay commercial Magnum does, I aint that surprised, they’ve always been good like that. I mean it is amazing for Mexico, but Magnum is big enough to pull it off/get away with it

I SAW. It was so cute.

You’re right, they’ve done it before, in Australia, where there was a backlash and it was reported to media watchdogs. And then they did one in Mexico (albeit, obviously less overt but still undeniable for anyone who’s aware of pop culture).

After Televisa’s splashing Juliantina around online and news sites picking up on it and interviewing them, this is the next major step in proving their popularity. The first things, you can say that they were looking for some easy hits and the novelty factor, but this is pure capitalism, Magnum wouldn’t have picked them if they didn’t think they’d be worth it.

i think it hasnt downed on people yet how HUGE it is that magnum chose Juliantina for a commercial in the prime time of the second to last episode of the most watched novela in Mexico a super traditional country. I mean they didnt choose Lucia and Jacobo they chose the GAYS. in Mexico in Mexico

I’m actually still only beginning to absorb the enormity of it myself, as well. I made a joke about it but…yeah, like, I was literally talking yesterday to a friend about how, as much as they flash Juliantina all over their social media and online presence, TV has been a different matter. But this was a TV commercial! And yes, during a penultimate episode of a super popular telenovela. There’s no way the viewers will see them and not think, oh, it’s the lesbian couple.

Magnum’s thought process?? This couple is so popular, we’re going to treat them the way other companies treat A list celebrities and mega sports stars.
