Ooh, I honestly hadn’t put any thought into it. On the one hand, Elementary had that and they’d also made Watson female, but I don’t know if those two things were connected or if they really wanted the Adler/Moriarty twist.
I reckon there’s more of an even chance of a female Moriarty here just because they’ve already switched the main two, but I wouldn’t be surprised either way. If we’re assuming it’s the Akira Moriwaki (which, Moriarty/Moriwaki) who wrote that paper, then Akira’s used commonly enough for both men and women.
