26 Favorite Femslash Moments of 2014
21. House of Cards – Lisa and Rachel

(No spoilers for the third season.)
This show does not have many happy moments, especially for characters whose last name is not Underwood. Rachel is like one of the smallest players and one of the unhappiest, a sex worker whose client, a minor politician at the time, gets stopped for a DUI while she’s in the car. But he becomes a pawn in a game Frank Underwood is playing, and thus, Rachel’s silence is needed. Thankfully, that just comes in the form of money, and she’s bundled off to live protected and watched by Underwood’s chief of staff. As everyone else is manipulating and blackmailing each other, Rachel’s settling into a quiet life and meets nice Lisa on the bus. Despite internally rolling her eyes at Lisa’s invitation to her church, she ends up going and enjoying herself, joining in and generally developing a good friendship.
When Lisa has problems at her place, Rachel lets her stay and well, after a bit, the scene above happens. It’s not the most romantic thing, nor the culmination of weeks and months of slow burn, but it is one of the purer, cleaner, happier moments on the show, between two of the nicer people.

22b. Waterloo Road – Vix and Nikki

Yeah, putting up another clip from this pair. I wasn’t entirely sure about it, I don’t want to be putting up multiple moments for all the series where I can’t decide my favorite scenes, and I don’t know if I want the exception to be THIS storyline, which handled itself so poorly in the second half, but this scene is pretty significant. Consider it a bonus, if you will.
Before this clip, Vix got a gift for Nikki and presented it to her in a small box. Afraid it was going to be a ring with proposal attached, Nikki was pretty relieved when it turned out to be just a bracelet. But, the more she thinks on it, the more she realizes she’s actually disappointed. Cue this scene. I like that Nikki’s so invested, and so happy after. I still can’t believe the eps that follow. (There’s a lot of sudden panic and backing and then she sleeps with the absolute worst guy, and yeah. This is from ep 9×12, just pretend the storyline ends here.)

26 Favorite Femslash Moments of 2014
22. Waterloo Road – Vix returning Nikki’s phone

Waterloo Road isn’t my usual kind of show, but I did enjoy this storyline. For a while. Until freaking Hector. Ugh.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. In case you’re unfamiliar with the show (and…now that I think about it, I should probably have done a bit of background on the other clips too), it’s about the daily drama surrounding the lives of the teachers and students at a school. Nikki teaches there, she meets Victoria (Vix), the sister of a fellow teacher at that teacher’s wedding and they seem to hit it off, though we only get a brief moment with them.
This scene is in the next ep, and man, it’s just such a cheesy and ridiculous moment, the music, the subterfuge, the wtf? look when Vix first shows up, the wink. But it’s cute! They’re cute. Until bloody Hector. This isn’t a huge moment, but it’s the kind of thing I like, treating the f/f moments as something fun.
