Do you think becky actually likes ginger or is just using her? I feel like its a mix but it might just be me?

Using her in what sense? I myself am not ruling Becky out as a potential baddie because of the genre, but in terms of what we’ve seen on screen so far, I haven’t seen anything at all that points to Becky using Ginger. If the twist comes, it’ll very much come out of the blue.

Becky’s story so far has been a pretty classic case of specifically religious gay panic and the back and forth that comes with it. If anything, until yesterday’s ep, it really felt like she was way more into Ginger than vice versa?

The thing is, there’s nothing really to be gained by trying anything with Ginger? Staying married to Evan gave her much more and for all she knew, Ginger wasn’t into any kind of monogamous relationship. But she’s literally just asked for a divorce anyway, and being very hot/cold with Ginger. If that’s a scheme, she’s a true mastermind. Plus, we’ve seen scenes without Ginger, not just the recap mentions but like when she went to Paul in ep 1×06, that wasn’t for Ginger’s benefit. So far she seems pretty sincere to me in everything we’ve seen of her.

No dude lesbians being killed in tv and movies isn’t for straight ppl to learn anything. It’s out of homophobia and convenience. Easy kill for shock value after you’ve used them for the big sex scene or whatever. Or killing them because the gay character ‘deserves it’. Bly manor they treated Dani and Jamie with dignity. It’s a series where everyone suffered. And the strength of dani and Jamie’s love was inspiring.

Ah, well, call it benevolent homophobia then, and it certainly can be convenient, but the narrative is often too “Look how bad this is! Look how they struggle!” for me to think it’s all malicious intentional homophobia. And what confirms that is seeing the same for other marginalized groups, trauma porn to show how bad it was/is.

I can believe that Dani and Jamie were treated well, I’m not debating that, but I’m sure there lesbian stories you hate out there where all the other characters suffered and where some lesbian viewers think they were handled with dignity. The POI fandom alone is pretty divided over that. It can be pretty relative but I’m not judging THOBM for it?

Ginger is so soft to Becky that I’m shipping so hard and it hurts because I know it’s already canceled and will probably end on a cliffhanger.

She wasssssss. I did not expect that ep at all. I’ve been trying to downplay my expectations for this show and the ship, not gushing in the tags as I usually might because thinking leads to investment which leads to disappointment but that was just a cute ass ep for them! I can no longer deny it.

We’re just gonna have to face that 2020 is the year where we pray for our ships to not be destroyed long enough for them to last the one season they’re allowed before cancellation.

So you think the bold type made a bad decision for the last relationship with Kat and her republican gf?

Well, I haven’t been watching in a while so I don’t really have particularly specific commentary.

I think, from the level of writing I saw before, that they don’t really have the ability to handle a story like this? And I can’t disagree with Aisha that it seems a very OOC arc for Kat, especially after these last few years. For Jane or even Sutton, maybe, but even when–especially when they’ve made Kat a person who only recently is becoming more aware of these issues, that’s the kind of person who is actually almost MORE enthusiastically forming and sticking to certain principles, you know? But like, again, I could maybe see it as her departing from them anyway, for sheer attraction, and feeling conflicted over that, but I just don’t really trust this show to be able to handle that.
