I have to give props to the actress that play Carina and Maya. Not only do they have natural chemistry that is apparent, they have all the nonverbal actions down as well. The way Maya’s eyes traveled down then back up Carina’s body and how you could see the second she lost all thoughts besides thirst she had and the little wiggle Carina does as she approaches to seal the deal. I’ve seen both F/F and M/F couples on tv in the same situations where small gestures like that are missed.

They do! Actually, when you say natural chemistry and nonverbal actions, I feel they’re both part of the same thing.

Last year, I was talking to a friend about what made Juliantina seem so natural and we decided that’s what “chemistry” actually is, the commitment from the actors to treating that relationship as real. For the actors to behave as it was real and convey it in every way, big and small, without that self-consciousness or distance you sometimes get, especially with same-sex couples. And then earlier this year, I saw this interesting post, where Celine Sciamma was praised for the chemistry between the characters in Portrait and how it was something you just couldn’t fake, and she was like, well, it’s literally our job to fake it, it’s our job to make you believe in this romance. And you know, exactly!

All this effort they put in, it’s part of it. And these two actresses do it well. I haven’t seen much of Stefania Spampinato before this, but she’s got the easy smiles and touches down, and well, we know Danielle Savre’s got that, well, that gay gaze, lol. They’re both totally selling it, and that’s exactly what you want from all your ships’ actors.

I like how Carina said she’s not in the habit of fixing broken people, but she’s very good at it. She’s handling everything Maya’s throwing at her very well. Not sure what her tipping point will be because Maya has a lot of legitimate issues. Curious to see how they continue to evolve because I really like them. I’d also like to see Maya be there for Carina. I reckon that would be on Grey’s since S19 is Maya’s show so Carina is the supportive GF for her. Unfortunately, Carina isn’t a main on GA.

Ohhh, that’s right! I totally forgot about that. I was so stuck on her knowing Maya’s “eyes forward” mantra, meaning she’s told her about that, but it slipped my mind that Carina said she wasn’t gonna do this. And has been doing this for a while, starting from the truck breakdown, lol.

She could have meant she won’t try if people don’t put in the effort themselves, or signaled she’d changed her mind by not leaving when Maya opened the door for her. Or maybe she just continued to want to have fun too, but each step deeper happened without her really noticing and now she’s going on a couple’s vacation a thousand miles away and knowing exactly how to bring back Maya from a panic attack.

And yes, I’d like to see Maya do the same for Carina. Maya does have a lot of issues, but most stem from the same source, and she does seem to be tackling them, now it’s Carina’s turn. You’re right, it’ll most likely be on Grey’s, not only because that’s Carina’s show, but it’ll probably be tied to her brother. Even though Meredith seems to be handling a lot of that, they can’t leave Carina out of it completely, right? Unfortunately, though DeLuca’s arc seemed to be building to something, isn’t Grey’s about to run out of eps soon and won’t be finishing the season proper? So it might have to wait till next season? I actually don’t know how it all works out, are they just going to air Station 19 eps that assumed Grey’s would still be shot? Or are they so independent in terms of story that it doesn’t really matter if a character pops up in S19, there’s no chance something important was happening to them in Grey’s?

different fort salem anon. i actually really love abigail even though she has miles to grow as of now! i kinda ship her and raelle though. like an endgame ship. unless they can really turn the scylla thing around and give her a worthy redemption arc after everything goes to hell. abigail/raelle – 2 mains together would be great though.

Yeah, I definitely saw the potential for them but as of now they’re getting along and barely talking and both are wayyy too focused on other people. I definitely do love two mains, lol, you don’t have to sell ME on that, but they’d have to do a lot more for Abigail/Raelle to go there. I feel like Scylla has to play a bigger role than just being someone who breaks Raelle’s heart, if that was all there was to her, they’d have kept this reveal for now. Since we’re already expecting a betrayal and for Raelle to find out, the show has to set up another story layer. Although I’m unsure what, she’s been a pretty ruthless killer and manipulator so far.

I let my guard down because the spanish/spanish speaking series have been doing quite well in the wlw department lately but in this case it has been a huge disappointment. I also found the writing very disconnected, in one episode they had characters say how Maite and Camino’s love was too strong to end like this and in the next one how Maite would never come back. Like wtf -.-

Ah, yeah, you gotta be careful with the historical shows. Those seem to have the most scope for things going wrong. I’m lucky to be able to concentrate on non-soap ships recently, but yeah, I can’t blame people for getting into them, they really did look good on paper (and canvas :P). Plus, Camino’s actress being actually married to a woman, it definitely made us think they’d put more effort into the story.

Motherland Fort Salem anon again here. I’m curious about the character you like. Who is it? Also AAAAHHH Raelle and Scylla are so cute. Even when the audience knows Scylla’s a spree, i can’t help loving and shipping them. Also TALLY IS BABY!

It’s Abigail! 😀 I just like that perfectionist struggling under parental pressure kinda character. Also, maaaybe I’m shipping her and Libba just a scooch.

Lol, yeah, the audience has to be pretttty forgiving of Scylla, but so far, she and Raelle are making it work. At some point they’re gonna have to explain what other layer there is to it, because it can’t simply be this? General Alder and through her, the military, definitely have their demons, but just being opposed to something bad doesn’t make you good, if your ways are straight up terrorism. But can’t believe they’d do the reveal about Scylla this quickly and not have there be another twist waiting.

I love Tally! She’s so nice, but I like her standing up for herself.

Did you keep up with Maitino/Acacias 38? I can’t help thinking how the writers have just used fans for ratings and wasted a good storyline at the same time. So disappointing :(

Ooof, yeah, bud, that was a blow. Yet another soap f/f couple being suddenly and completely and illogically wrecked. The way they were writing it, I wasn’t sure they’d commit, but at the same time, it seemed a story with effort, falling in love with art as a backdrop. But Maite wasn’t really embedded into the story… Still, I didn’t think it’d implode this quickly.

They definitely should have developed Anya more before this episode.

Right? I mean, what they’d shown before this was fine, if a bit self-centered, needing Safiya to smooth things over for her career, but she’s in the middle of a hotly contested and dirty election, it’s understandable she’d be stressed. Presumably they’d both agreed to her running and Safiya knew she might have to make some allowances.

But damn, what we saw last night wasn’t pretty. And the thing is, she does have a point, both with the school and Safiya, but the way she approached it showed how wrong she was, because she has the same privilege as her son and treats it as cavalierly. And if we’d seen more of her before, maybe we’d understand her better, but as it is, the audience would surely be on Safiya’s side.

Not only is Safiya one of the moral centers of the show, we spend time with her. Like when it comes to Aaron and Marie, we see Marie’s side of things quite a bit, so we sympathize with both and see her point of view too (although actually, she has been quite lovely and supportive in general). But Anya doesn’t get the benefit of that and her stance yesterday honestly came across like an antagonist’s. I really would not like to see them split up, for a variety of reasons, so I hope she apologizes or realizes she can’t be so imperious and dismissive.

Hey, do you watch Four More Shots Please? It’s quirky, cheesy and mostly silly but I really enjoy it for what it is. The new trailer dropped yesterday and season 2 begins on April 17.

You know, I wasn’t going to, I only watched TBT because I knew there was going to be f/f and I only watched Desenfrenadas for Barbara but that kind of female friendship (and their mostly m/f romantic relationships) show isn’t really my thing. I know Four More Shot Please has f/f too, but when s1 came out TBT s2 had just shown me why I don’t usually go for this genre. And I do sometimes hesitate when watching very desi stories, they hit so close to home.

BUT. I did see the new trailer come out and saw they still had the same f/f love interest, which is my very strong preference (second only to having both halves as mains) and went through some of s1 and I’m kind of into it. 😮

What do you think Alex and Vero are doing right now? I was wondering what jobs they would have. Or does Alex have enough savings that they’re just relaxing and being great moms to Sol. I miss those two so much!!

Same! God, those two feel like they’re from a lifetime ago. When things were sunlit and happy.

Oh, to live there forever.

“Right now” in a world where there wasn’t a pandemic? Because if they’re experiencing this too, I hope they’re bunkered down!

But let’s say there isn’t one (man, the fact that going forward, stories not including a pandemic are automatically AUs…). Considering Alex’s green building was made, I imagine they are definitely comfortable when it comes to money, especially when neither is particularly material, Alex’s expensively understated wardrobe aside. But I also think Vero won’t want or let Alex stay at home not working like Oscar did. She seems bent on fixing the mistakes she made with him. Plus, Alex’s skills and creative calling are different from Oscar, who didn’t see finance the way Alex sees architecture. Yeah, both of them saw Veronica and fell hard, to the point of almost giving up their careers, but Alex channeled her feelings into something new and great at her actual job. So I don’t think Alex will stay away from it for long.

Vero…that’s tougher. It depends on where they settle. I think they’d still want to live some place not too crowded, you can’t pen Vero and Sol up in a city apartment. Maybe they’d just do a tour and settle back in Albufera, but the memories must be overwhelming. Maybe they’d move a bit, lol, or go find a place like it, on a beach somewhere. Or maybe the city’d be perfect for them for a few years! I don’t really know, I actually really like their very open ending, just endless possibilities in front of them, each other at their side.
