They’re babies themselves! I’ll imagine one in like, 10 years. But after that, maaaybe. It could be cute, it could be cute. Okay, fine, it could be very cute. Their pampered, stylish baby with an affinity for pools and parks.
If Eva dies, it’d be within a few days in telenovela time so no baby.
I don’t love the trope of people being changed by pregnancies/kids and I don’t know if we have enough time for that, but you might be onto something. I was just saying that while Val and Guille have specific things in their lives they’re aiming for, Eva hasn’t had anything, this might be it. The baby and/or Mateo’s death will probably affect her severely, we’ll just have to see what happens to her after that. And you also make another good point, they might be less likely to kill a pregnant woman.
All your predictions seem pretty likely, actually. But if Beltran has to save Juls, that means she’s in a situation she needs to be saved from. D:
I think…I don’t know. Maybe, to save somebody else? But who? Val? Mateo? She feels like somebody who’ll have to live with the consequences of her actions. Be shunned by her siblings, raise the baby, especially if turns out it’s Mateo’s.
I don’t know. I would think all of his kids being happy and safe would be part of Leon’s second chance, but he’s spent very little time with her and she’s taken no steps toward a happier life. Guille and Val have their clear endgames but Eva? I don’t know. Could be, anon.
And another anon:
How do you pronounce Juliantina? (Not Spanish speaking, trying to get it right because I live for them) thanks!
How you’d think, except the J is with an H sound. Maca says it a bunch of times here:
And another anon:
Juliantina. lol first ship I’m not mad or ranting about the writers.
Yeah, I don’t feel like my guy is long for the world now. Too naive by half. That’s the problem with him and Susana, they think they see how bad people are but they’re still too good-hearted to believe HOW bad they are. Drinking something Johnny gave you?? Going to him and telling him your plans? What kind of…
It’s actually kind of interesting that if you go along with the theory that in telenovelas, good people get good endings, and bad people bad, then those two should survive. But they’re not main enough, they’re going to be collateral damage. The only two characters left, defined by their goodness, are Juliantina. Guille had his part in the holdup and Renata is…is she really even on the show aside from being Guille’s love interest? And her character’s not had to be in the same position of making decisions like Juliantina, she doesn’t get to show her kindness and integrity in the same way. So at this point, those two need a happy ending just to make sure this telenovela isn’t depressing as heck.
Damn, I left it off my list of top five Juls outfits and it totally belonged there!
I think it’d have to be borrowed, she didn’t expect to stay the night and didn’t bring a change of clothes. Lol, how subtle, picking an outfit for Val to see and it’d be this one.
Oh, no problem, anon. She’s the older woman who hired Lupita and she was there along with Panchito (and of course Val) to try to calm Juls when they found out about the kidnapping. Juls even went to her to ask about a loan or a job when she thought she had the medical bills to pay.
Most recently, she’s the one who took Juls in after she left Lupe.
You know, I think this might legit be one of the reasons behind why Juliantina is so good.
Telenovelas lean into romance and so-called cheesiness and straightforward stories in a way a lot of other media thinks it’s too good for. English-language media’s so cynical and seems to hate for people to be happy and left satisfied. Combine that with some weird obsession with needing to be shocking and unpredictable and you get TV that’s hard to watch as a character-lover.
That doesn’t mean that all telenovelas–or indeed, all makers of this kind of media, so Bollywood, kdramas–will automatically do well by their LGBT characters or relationships, there’s still so many other biases to get over, but once they include them, there’s hopefully not the same need to include a stray bullet twist where the victim is all too obvious.
I don’t know that last one at all? If it’s good, I’ll watch. And I’m still lucky to have Flozmin left.
But man, I feel like it’s going to be really hard to get over Juliantina. It’s telling that people don’t even necessarily want another season or spinoff because what made this special will be so hard to capture again. And even if by some unprecedented miracle, these actresses with their phenomenal chemistry were cast opposite each other again, there’d be no guarantee that the writing and directing would be there. The acting, writing, directing, every necessary component came together in the best way to make this one story so good.
