Thank you for being one of the few Juliantina blogs that isn’t shitting on people who had bad resctions to last night’s episode and for being so kind in how you replly to all these asks even though you probably have like 5 million to sift through. Hope you have a good day!

(Sorry for replying to this so late. Obviously anon sent this last week, I started my response then which is why it might seem disjointed.)

Ah, well. I would think people are probably reacting to or preemptively reacting to what they knew would be…rather emotionally negative responses? They’ve invested a lot in this already and they want to keep it positive And for some people there’s also the identification with this as a part of their culture, so there maybe some of the “I can criticize it but not outsiders” perspective which we all understand, right, it is difficult to gauge what place some criticisms are coming from. If they’re from a place of understanding and seeing what the repercussions are to its specific audience or of it’s more, this isn’t what I wanted, as an outsider.

Having said that, it obviously is up to people how they want to react to things. As long as they’re not forcing that opinion on anyone else, I don’t think anyone can judge how others respond.

And another anon:

Have u noticed that every f/f fandom that has some fuckery go down ends up attacking each other for decisions to stop watching/ take some emotional distance? I’ve seen so many ppl attacking “fake” fans for taking some distance after the Sergio thing, but I don’t think it’s a badge of honor to make urself miserable over poorly written tv, just like I don’t think it’s bad to keep watching if it’s not negatively affecting u. I feel like f/f fandoms have to work on being kinder to each other lol

I definitely agree but that works both ways. I’ve also seen negative comments toward people who do want to continue watching, as in, they should love themselves more, that this lets “them get away with it” and is the reason why we keep getting bad rep and it’s settling and so on.

I’ve always said this, but bad behavior in fandom is really just bad behavior in general. Nobody should be harassing each other over this. You are so right in saying we should be kinder to each other, because there are reasons why everyone chooses to do what they do. If there was just that bit of understanding and nuance. If they don’t want to watch anymore, they shouldn’t have to. It’s that simple. It’s not up to fans to watch things they don’t want to. It’s very rude to say they’re fake or to want them to continue to “support” something they don’t want to. For any reason, let alone something that makes them feel bad. And of course vice versa, nobody wants to be made miserable over TV, they’re watching for different reasons.

And another anon:

I am jealous of your understanding anons! My inbox is stuffed with pissed off people who hate me for expressing my negative feelings on this episode lol

Aww, see, that’s not right. As long as you were respectful, you can say whatever the heck you want.

As a fandom, what are our thoughts on Gonzi or whoever Barbara is dating? For some reason he rubs me the wrong way but I’m also torn because I love Guille and I fear that my love for Juliantina is preventing me from looking at him objectively

As a fandom? I guess everyone has their own opinion on him, dunno how there can be any fandom consensus or why there needs to be? Objectively for what? I’d think Barbara’s opinion on him is probably the one that matters, heh. If it’s bothering you, just scroll or unfollow. This fandom experience, like every other, will pass and then it’s all a moot point.

With the scene on the elevator with the hitman. I don’t watch the whole show so I was a little confused. Was Juls moving away from him because he was being a lech or was it because she recognized him or both? And then how did Valentina know? From the look Juls gave her or…

I don’t think she recognized him, he wasn’t part of the uh, Texan chapter that originally harassed her and her mom, I think it was just him being a full creeper. And Val took her cues from that, I don’t think either realized until he started talking about Chino that it was one of those guys.

Help me boo, I was already left for dead by all the juliantina loving and I just saw elkdtal, now I’ve ascended. I know ppl criticize the film for having less focus on the f/f pair but I know now why. They did not want all the lesbians to simultaneously combust watching Regina making eyes with Sonam. My god Regina is so stunning in this. Sonam is good too, but Regina owns me. There’s just something abt seeing this desi woman in a wlw relationship. This movie made me smile throughout their scenes

And other anons:

Girl you have to watch ek ladki if you can. It’s sooo good! Like to watch an entire movie revolving around a desi girl being gay and on top of that being so well done – all the feelings <3

OMG, have you seen Ek ladki ko dekha?! I’m so happy, this is such a big step forward and I’m freaking out. There wasn’t much wlw content and the story was told a little differently but its purpose was prolly to open people’s minds more and it rocked. I’m so happy rn. The scenes that the two had together were like super cute and both ladies are so stunning ?

I did watch it! And I loved it!

I thought I’d be disappointed, the comments when it first came out seemed to indicate that they’d sidelined the romance, sidelined it in a way that…minimized it? And that seemed far too easy to do and I went in expecting that, but that’s not really at all what it was?

It sucks that pretty muc hevery comment about loving it has to come with a caveat, “I know there wasn’t much of the f/f”. I say it too, but we’re having to almost apologize for liking it and like, warning people. When really, I think it did exactly what it set out to do, and really well. It was a warm family movie with a major f/f plot!

Like I said, I’d come in expecting to be disappointed but gosh, seeing them talking about something actually canon LGBT, the main plot, and it not being us reading into the subtext, that just floored me. If you know what I like, it’s good intentions and execution, and I really felt that here. So many little things jumped out to me.

The layers of meta, lol, us watching an audience watching a father and daughter played by a father and daughter. Anil and Sonam have been approached for a team-up so often but this is the one they chose to use their big first one for. The two secondary plots of the father liking to cook but it being frowned on as a woman’s job and the “forbidden” aspect of an inter-religious marriage, where the audience could draw the connections between these two things they’d already processed as being minor and not a big deal and same-sex marriages, how Rajkummar’s character immediately backed away from anything romantic once he knew what was going on, how they let the father be the loving character and the horrible brother wield most of the homophobia, how it wasn’t her apologizing to them but in the end came down to how trapped and sad a life she’d lived because of this, how acceptance came down to being a matter of familial love.

Lol, the Regina anon. I LOVED those scenes? I immediately clipped them from a terrible bootleg and translated and shared them with a friend so we could scream over them. Kuhu looking at Sweety and so quickly picking up on the gay?

Also, I liked how specifically desi this was, how for so many of us, being closeted means retreating to this quiet, well-behaved role, acknowledging what our choices mean and simply living with it. Coming out and losing family does not tend to be our way of handling things. I’ve seen criticism for how withdrawn or difficult to read Sweety was, but really, that is how it often is, isn’t it? I’d think you’d have to be a kind of subpar movie critic for not picking up what she’s feeling, if anything.

While I and everyone else would have loved a female version of the title song, I still loved that whole little romantic montage for them. And I SWOONED at the hand kiss. Hand kissES.

Yeah, yeah, in comparison to other media this might not be much, but for the context, for this. It was…a lot. It’s so undeniable. There was no way to interpret this as something not between lovers.

Ultimately, I came away from it feeling really good and really moved. I thought it was effectively paced, balanced a whoooole of things really well, and it just had heart and warmth.

I have trouble registering at xa-cs, so I searched for another way to dl from univision and I found this website www(.)descargavideos(.)tv all you need is the episode link from univision and jdownloader/m3u8 downloader. the site also supports more than 60 websites. no more mega dl limit. spanish subs is included in the downloaded video

Oooh, well, that’s pretty nifty.

http://www.descargavideos.tv/

I think the difference that is xa-cs uploads the most recent ones too, if you don’t have an account, those are locked on univision. But for the ones that are unlocked, so about two weeks back, that does indeed work and it’s definitely easier than going through the xa-cs ad-laden hoops and mega’s limits.

honestly Lupe can choke. Valentina heard about the kidnapping and within an hour was calling the cops going to the press, she was doing everything to bring Juls, but Lupe that woman knew who took Juls where she was and remained silent and trusted a stranger to do the job, not to mention she tries to play hero and RUNS when the bullets start leaving her daughter behind like a mother wouldve jump in front of bullets not ran, hell Juls did it for Val you know.

Her part in this ep must have been to provide comedy relief, because lmao, what was she doing? Why did she show up then if she was only going to run away? Well, I assume she finally clued in on there being a plan.

But anyway, now that the show is literally pulling the in a locked room together until they hash out their differences trope with them, maybe now is finally the time she stops being such a dick to Val?
