Carina’s really nice to fans (she’s even interacted with me on twitter personally), I’m confused by what the last anon said (she definitely has a “take no shit” attitude, but Roswell’s got some really toxic, stalker-y fans, I wouldn’t say it’s her fault.

And another anon:

i’m so confused by that other anon, Malex (mlm ship from rnm) is one of the show’s two big ships… they’re huge in the show and i’ve never heard a bad thing about them/her.

I didn’t know so many people who followed me watched Roswell, heh. I didn’t mean for this to be a thing, I loved Freelin in TO s4 specifically and associated it with her, two years ago. I don’t really know enough to have an opinion otherwise and given that the fandom situation is heated, I don’t really want to get more into it. I’m not dismissing the complaints as just upset fans, often extreme fandoms are spurred on by writers, but this was a throwaway comment about a throwaway comment, not really what I’m looking to spend my time on.

If that writer of the Originals is Carina Adley, I will have to unfollow, even if it hurts me. She thinks that giving some gay content is worth the world, despite really awful writing. That woman has no respect for the fans and treats them like garbage. You can look into it here on tumblr, there are lots of comments about it.

Oh no, it is her. I just remember liking some of what she said for TO s4 re: Freelin, defending them against backlash. Sad to hear about the rest.

I’m so sorry, but I have to say, I had no idea the original Isobel Evans was played by Katherine Heigal. My Isobel is played by Lily Cowles and she’s asexual and the whole show is a lovely LGBTfest and it’s amazing. (Also I do the Paris Geller thing every time too)

I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to answer this, usually I wait on the ones I want to really elaborate on or add gifs, but this just needed an, “Oh, I gotcha” type of response, heh. I’m glad you’re enjoying the reboot, I think one of the writers I really liked from The Originals is the showrunner there.

I stopped watching charmed reboot when they pulled that bs on Niko. Plus, I hate the vibe the 2nd season has, and hacy…I’m not a hacy hater, but the show has been over taken by their potential relationship and I’m just not here for that. They had me the entire first season, but no mas, they messed with my fav girl, Niko and I’m just not gonna support a show that lies and distroys perfectly good qwoc relationships.

Well, Katrina (the new love interest) is also a QWOC, but I take your point. As soon as they said last season that they were going in this new direction, it was worrisome, like, obviously nobody wants bad plots for a show, but for them to make such a point about how they’re going to focus more on that, it showed such a shift in priorities. Like, they had intricate plots last season, so they’re going to increase that even more and take away time from…?

And now it’s come to fruition. I mean, when was the last time the three sisters had a heart to heart? Last season it was all the time, Harry was still there, it was a family of four, but now it’s split into two, Macy and Harry on the one side and Mel and Maggie on the other.

And them cutting out what they spent the first season building, Niko, Gal, even Parker, it’s…kind of disrespectful. To the previous writers and actors but also to us. We liked that, we were the audience who watched from the start, why are they removing it and for what? To appeal to who?

bit of a killjoys newbie here; im a little ways into the show now but i still feel like i dont understand how the green plasma/Hullen work?? i know there’s different kinds of plasma as mentioned by Aneela when she told Kendry she gave her the good stuff instead of that lower-tier servant goo. Aneela and Khlyen have a special bond with the green as the exception to the rule, but how come Kendry still fell in love that intensely? Shouldnt her emotions just be an “echo” (Khlyen) and not form bonds?

Heh, yeah, it is a bit convenient for the plot, but I think we’re meant to believe that they did just fall for each other that strongly. We can take the servant goo out of the equation, but even putting that aside, they do tell us that with the free will plasma, people don’t feel the same. My theory is that Kendry was already such a ruthless terrible person without it that becoming Hullen wasn’t much of a difference. s1 and s2 Kendry meeting Aneela would pretty much be the same as s3 Kendry, right. Even though she’s new to it and has to be trained away from her “human” thinking, as Gander and Aneela both point out, like, what human thinking, the scale of her thoughts may be too small for the Hullen, but this was a murderer who casually used children as tools.

Oop I’m glad I read your posts that s2 is a soft reboot of Charmed. The second half was bad enough that I still haven’t watched the finale, so I’m glad I know not to bother. I hated Harry and Harry/Macy is gross to me so imma go ahead and skip the show now. Sad that the first half of s1 had so much potential and they just ruined it. On brand for a cw show tho so I’ll learn my lesson eventually lol. Or I guess I already have, that was the last cw show I was watching.

Sorry, you sent this about a month ago, but I just remembered it and wanted to respond because, buddy, so far, you have made the correct decision. I wouldn’t say it’s a CW thing necessarily, focusing too much on white guys isn’t only their issue, but maybe in hiring people who continue to prioritize them, that is something they could work on, they have more scope for allowing diversity than the big four.

This rebrand has centered Harry to such an extent, by screentime and plot, I would not be wrong in calling him the lead of season 2! For Charmed, for the Charmed reboot that was going to be about three WOC, to center on a white guy this much, not pleased.

Hi. I just want to let you know I watched Warigami bc you giffed it. I was already interested in it bc of Emily Piggford (Yoki of Killjoys) but when you giffed Wendy& Sadako, you sealed the deal. Thank you! Also a writer confirmed the gay vibes between them.

Ahhh, I like when people let me know they watched something because I giffed it, thank you! Also, what? That was deliberate? I mean, I thought it was! But I wasn’t sure, if you know what I mean. It was subtle, right? And how many times have we seen things like that between ships that were actually totally by accident. Hmmmmm. Now I want to see another season and a follow up.

so I’m thinking about watching halt and catch fire but I’m kinda turned off by all the heterosexual nonsense at the beginning, how quickly does it get better?

Well, Joe is bi, but I get what you mean. The tonal shift starts in season 2, and some people even say to start from there directly and then return to s1 if you want to see how they got there. I like to see the changes and growth so I personally am still glad I watched s1 first, and I’d recommend that even if you do skip, at least watch the last ep of s1.

Update: I’m halfway thru s5 and I’m really really dreading the end Bc I’m not ready for the show to be over! Tbh s4 & start of 5 are bleeding together Bc I watched too many in a row & then took a break. I think s3 was most interesting altogether, I’ve found myself losing focus in parts of 4&5. Some of the stuff seems more disjointed/unnecessary than I’d expect from a show that needs to wrap up. But there are so many moments that have given me ALL the feels. S4 was so much angsty pining!! (1/?)

Delle seyah and aneela love each other so much and s4 was so painful even tho aneela hardly appeared. Gotta say those eps without Dutch dragged a bit tho, but the Delle seyah kept me going during them lol. Omfggg all the feels from Delle seyah’s priority of finding aneela above all else, followed by protecting Jaq & searching for aneela above all else. I love them. Side note: HJK’s smile and face and eyes are so GOOD I’m so gay send help. She’s a delight. Also I got feels from Lucy dying (2/3)

I haven’t had so many feels about an AI since s4 of poi. Also ALL the family feels for Delle seyah/Jaq when she says “never claim what you may lose” and when she told Jaq that she wouldn’t be ok if she lost him and she’s his mother and all her speeches in that ep. Then the ENDING WHEN ANEELA STEPS OUT AND SHE FALLS TO HER KNEES AND ANEELA CANT TAKE HER EYES OFF DELLE SEYAH. OOOF. So good. You’re totally right that watching characters learn to care makes them so appealing, like Root, who’s a fave

Yeah, I think this is really a show that shouldn’t be binged. Not even one season at a time, you know? How some shows thrive by being released on a weekly basis? This one needed that wait. But yes, absolutely, looking back, s3 was probably the highlight, and then personally, even without Dutch, I loved the first eps of s4 and the last. s5 was where it lost the most focus for me, for me s3 and s4 went well together, but s5 was very stop-start.

The s4 pining was AMAZING. It made it so worth the watch even with Aneela barely in it. I’ve said it again and again, KJ was a masterclass in how to make you care for a really terrible person while barely showing her. And I’m just still so impressed how they were never changed or punished in the way we usually see, their growth got to be on their terms, they cared about just a few more people than before and it turned out to be enough. Although, although, Delle Seyah has always been an actual leader. She’s power hungry and ambitious but she has an actual idea of what to do while in charge.

That s5 ep was so good! Delle Seyah and Jaq and their odd little relationship, I was actually super happy to see him being a brat to her. It gave them something to work through and made them both…just a normal parent-child relationship. When characters are given that kind of conflict, it’s to develop them and their dynamic. Which it did, in her way, we got Delle Seyah’s speech to show how much he mattered to her. BUT THEN YES THE ENDING OF THAT EP. Like, we waited that long for them to meet again and it absoLUTELY paid off. I could never have imagined that’s how they’d do it, but like,  how else would they actually have, but it was the execution, how like, utterly romantic they made it, and the way, as you said, they couldn’t stop looking at each other and Delle Seyah just falling to her knees! Miss Queens Rise Never Gonna Bow My Head It Messes with the Crown Royalty just sinking to her knees. And the fact that it was out of emotion? *chef’s kiss* Yes, yes, watching Root’s journey with Shaw was kinda similar, yeah, that’s a great point. And Regina and Henry. Seeing people care about others, that is the most effective way to have them appeal to your audience.

Aw, yes, Lucy! She was such a presence, honestly, the third member of Team Awesome Force, before D’av. She was there from the very start, calling Johnny out for being a thief. The series cheated a bit, killing her off for the emotional payoff and then bringing her back, but I will 100% take it.

HJK did so well, Aneela was consistently so different from Dutch, so appealing and intelligent in an entirely different way. Dutch was warmth and humor and compassion, Aneela was just this cold volatile intelligence and then softening for just her chosen people, but never did the two ever overlap. And she’s hot as hell, lol, I can’t deny that, lol. I’m just really grateful that we got this series with her, the perfect writing and timing and tone, and now hopefully she’ll move on to huge things.
