i’m so torn with sergio. i want to like him cause i think he’s just a dumbass who’s a good person deep down but like he keeps doing the dumbest shit. like he cannot keep his mouth shut. first he tells nayeli about val and juls then lucho abt their breakup?? wtf dude

I don’t really think he’s anything deep down, I think he’s just a normal, easily swayed dude. He couldn’t have stood up against the homophobia when it was happening? If he felt strongly enough about it to bring it up now, I mean. It’s one thing if he didn’t have a stance either way and grew and learned from it, but he did apparently think it was wrong, but didn’t say anything then.

I liked that he let Val know he supported her but other than that, the “good” things he does are so minor and usually after allowing something much worse to happen first. And I can’t forget his attitude when he found out Juls sold lottery tickets on the street and only started liking her again when she wore that dress. It feels like he’s set up in direct opposition to Val who didn’t care at all about the tickets and whose reaction to the dress only reinforced existing feelings, not changing them completely. Juls didn’t need to look or be different for Val to fall.

Oh, I have a plot question! Do we like Lucia? I’ve only seen her interact with Val a little but they seem to have a good relationship? On the other hand she killed Leon so is she good or bad? And does Leon know Lucia killed him? If he does, is he not mad?

We do, we do like her. 

She’s definitely flawed and has made mistakes but she gets a lot of narrative sympathy. Not only does she get those flashbacks to Leon that show she’s missing him, something that endears her to the audience, we also get glimpses of her background, where she was forced into prostitution by her mom. So a lot of her need for security and acceptance come from that.

Also, she didn’t kill Leon, she thought they were going to steal from him, but Johnny jumped the gun and had Leon killed. She’s continued protecting him so of course she’s not an innocent victim in it but I would say that we’re meant to root for her to finally find some happiness with Jacobo/Leon.

Aw, you don’t need to apologize for that.

That is how you say it, Ek Ladki, which is the start of the rather long full title Ek Ladki Koh Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, a famous Bollywood song from the ‘90s and now a new Bollywood f/f movie. I wrote a bit about it here. 

It was just released in theaters on Feb 1st so there aren’t many ways to watch it online. You can look to see if theaters near you are showing it, they’d be subtitled, if not, wait with the rest of us until it’s out digitally. 🙂

i was thinking and it must be even harder for Juliana and even Lupe to believe in Jacobo’s story since Leon is treating them exactly like El Chino. He is impatient with them, all conversations he has had with them since the beginning was full of him yelling at them and being completely insensitive. Leon/Jacobo is checking all the boxes of Chino’s behavior so a transmigration thing is already hard to swallow and combine that with his attitude with Juls and Lupe…

That’s true! Why do my poor Valdes girls always get treated like crap? I kind of like Jacobo, especially with Val (except for that one ep with Lucho) but he’s not been great to the Valdes women. Although I did find it endearing when Lupe got kidnapped and he felt so guilty and was tracking Juls so closely. 

But yeah, face to face, he’s not been great to them, and really, Juls is so totally justified, who the hell would believe her lying dick of a father when he says “I’m someone else”. He would say that, wouldn’t he. After seemingly escaping from an execution?

Gonna answer a few other plotty questions here. Another anon asked:

Actually, at first Camilo advised him not to, but even after Camilo saw how the kids were suffering and that Val at least was open to the concept of all this, maybe he should, Leon’s still wanting to get revenge for his murder and just wants to keep everything a secret. It is a bit forced for the drama. But I imagine he also genuinely likes to move among his family and find out things he wouldn’t have and interact with them in a way he didn’t before.

How was Juls let back in the house after Eva banned her. Was this mentioned?

They didn’t mention it as far as I saw, I was really hoping that the Camilo-Eva talk would maybe push Eva to very reluctantly let Juls in to help her depressed sister, but nope. Probably at this time, if yesterday’s kidnap victim wants anything, the rest of the household is going to accommodate that.

I wish, I wish, but I don’t know if his advice would help? It’s so many other, external things, although, yes, yes, it is Juls’s state of mind being the main thing keeping them apart, but I don’t know how he could handle that? Not in one quick session.

There’s have to be a time jump. But most of the telenovelas had the time jump even at the end of the last episode. They put it in there for showing how are the characters in the future.

Right, right, but an epilogue is a pretty far cry from a mid-plot time jump. It really does, to me, seem like it’s going to be the former.

I’m not sure how recent the last ask was about the “time jump” or if we’re talking about the same pictures Barbara posted but the caption was just about her saying goodbye and thanking and being grateful for Juliana and the cast because they were wrapping up the Telenovela. I don’t think there’s any time jump tbh bc Maca and Barbara mentioned in an interview that they stopped filming around December and Barbara posted those pictures in December 6

Well, I’m not sure if that’s the picture that speculation is based on, but I guess we’ll know soon enough. Less than a month till the show ends. 😮

I’m so sorry to add to ur asks, but can I ask how Camilo is tied to the storyline/juliantina? I remember he was telling Jacobo there’s nothing wrong with homosexuality but I don’t think I’ve seen him outside of that? Is he another dad haha… dad no.3

Oh, don’t worry about the asks, that’s not on you guys. It’s just my bad time management. I think I’m getting better at it, though. 😮

Camilo is Leon’s friend. That’s significant, he didn’t meet Jacobo and befriend him, he knew Leon before and is a close family friend who the Carvajal kids treat like an uncle. When Jacobo first arrived after the bodyswitch, he told Camilo everything. It helped that Camilo already believed in all this bodyswitching stuff before, that, I dunno, souls can travel around and whatever, and even wrote a book on it. 

After Val got really drunk in her grief over Leon’s death and fell into a pool and it was a bit of a wake up call for the other family members to sit down with her, Guille told her that the book had helped him deal with his grief so Val read it and went to Camilo and talked it over with him. She actually asked him if it was possible her father was alive or if there was ever a chance she’d see him again. Since at that point, Jacobo was already embedded in their household and was the one who had driven her over to Camilo’s, he was like, oh, for sure.

So, keeping that all in mind, she’s already open to this theory, right, plus, she knows from what Juls has said before that her father was executed and then seemed to wake up at the morgue and think he was somebody else. So combining that with the fact that Jacobo’s a nice guy (to her) and that Chino is terrible (going by what Juls has said), obviously our little detective is putting some things together.

do you know where that “time jump” theory comes from?

Spoilers ahead, buddy, but it seems to come from the caption of a pic from what appears to be them in the future, possibly last ep, and the caption is something like Juliantina’s reunion? I’m not sure how official the caption is or how well translated it is. Regardless, I do not see how there is any room for a time jump until the main plot is resolved.

I love that THAT is how close Val sits to Juls when she is still upset with Juls. Like, lol. Zero self-control on our girl.
