Lmao that other anon that doesn’t like Juliana had me like “hOW dARE u be so wRONG and come voice such a wRONG opinion here, on the page of my juliantina discovery (no offense other anon).” ? glad to see my juliantina feels are still nice & strong even tho it feels like a lifetime ago since I watched. Juliana is such a great, complex, lovable character. I’m glad she’s withholding the test of time as a fave. (No idea how long it’s been since aam ended this pandemic is messing w my perception)

Haha, you’re voicing my initial reaction, anon. I’m always like, you come here? To say this? But no, it’s fine, other anon, lol. As long as people don’t intend it in a mean-spirited way, I’m usually cool with it.

Yeah, my Juliantina feelings ebb and flow, but people were reblogging my older posts recently and I read through them and all the feelings came flooding back. They were a goddamn good ship! And Juliana was an integral part of it.

I just started watching Desenfrenadas yesterday. Bárbara’s accent is so different than in AAM. Which is interesting considering my Spanish is Americanized af. I also think she’s much more interesting in this show. While I loved Juliantina, Juliana’s character was kinda bland for me before. I feel like I’ve seen more depth and I’m so impressed. Hope they get a second season!

Oh, I did hear that about the accent! Didn’t pick it up myself, of course, but it’s neat it’s that noticeable.

Heh, can’t agree on the second part. Love Ro, as I said about Abigail from MFS, I like a perfectionist stifled by family pressure, and instead of the bratty flavor, it’s the mom friend type, but Juls is Juls. I love her.

I have to give props to the actress that play Carina and Maya. Not only do they have natural chemistry that is apparent, they have all the nonverbal actions down as well. The way Maya’s eyes traveled down then back up Carina’s body and how you could see the second she lost all thoughts besides thirst she had and the little wiggle Carina does as she approaches to seal the deal. I’ve seen both F/F and M/F couples on tv in the same situations where small gestures like that are missed.

They do! Actually, when you say natural chemistry and nonverbal actions, I feel they’re both part of the same thing.

Last year, I was talking to a friend about what made Juliantina seem so natural and we decided that’s what “chemistry” actually is, the commitment from the actors to treating that relationship as real. For the actors to behave as it was real and convey it in every way, big and small, without that self-consciousness or distance you sometimes get, especially with same-sex couples. And then earlier this year, I saw this interesting post, where Celine Sciamma was praised for the chemistry between the characters in Portrait and how it was something you just couldn’t fake, and she was like, well, it’s literally our job to fake it, it’s our job to make you believe in this romance. And you know, exactly!

All this effort they put in, it’s part of it. And these two actresses do it well. I haven’t seen much of Stefania Spampinato before this, but she’s got the easy smiles and touches down, and well, we know Danielle Savre’s got that, well, that gay gaze, lol. They’re both totally selling it, and that’s exactly what you want from all your ships’ actors.
