As Moira Buffini, the co-creator and executive producer tells MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), “Lady Fitz and Charlotte don’t have a ‘romance.’ Such a thing is unsustainable in the world of ‘Harlots’. We wanted to show how mutually beneficial a relationship between a harlot and her lover could be.”
She further elaborates how they would be unequal. “There is always money between them in the bed. A year on, and Charlotte is restless; Lady Fitz is increasingly lonely. Let’s see the truth of where that takes them. I’m afraid we’re cussedly unsentimental – and that, I hope, is the strength of the show.”

hey boo i stopped watching killjoys a while back but am wondering if I should pick it up again. the reason why i stopped is bc even tho dutch is amazing the show started to feel like “capable badass woc babysits 2 whiny bros who can’t get over their shit” so am wondering if that eases up?

On one hand, that kinda never stops? The bros are always on some shit or other. But they often are the ones who save Dutch, and really, none of the three are completely put together all the time. But if you don’t like them and continue to not like them, I don’t know that I’d recommend you to keep watching? Because while it does get more interesting once the mythology takes over more, seasons 3 and 4 probably being my favorites and introducing/reframing characters in a way that fundamentally changes the shape of the show, the core three are still the heart of it.
If it’s the dynamic you mind…I dunno, because I warmed to Johnny pretty quickly and usually tolerate D’av well enough, so I can’t speak to that, but if it’s that particular plot you don’t care about, it definitely changes.

Ah, anon, super sorry for this late reply. I keep on saying that I’m going to be late on everything so just accept a general apology for all replies and requests but…sorry.
Just to kind of explain, right as Ramadan was ending, at the beginning of June, I was hit with this headache + nausea combo that just flattened me. It was constant, it was waking me up from sleep, I just lay in bed. As the days would go by, I would think I was getting better, and that’s when you’d see an occasional post or gifset, and then a day later it’d be worse again. I thought I was good the weekend Dark came out and then on that Monday it hit again, as worse as ever.
I’ve fallen behind on everything, although when the headache wasn’t too bad I was able to get some reading done. I’m still not fully back but finally easing back into work and going to try to answer some asks and get back into the rhythm of watching things more regularly and preparing for some of my fave shows to return.
THE NEWS. The news. I was super excited! I followed it all from my phone. A movie AND a series! Ngl, if had been just a movie, I’d have been like, all right, okay, at least we get two more hours of them, this isn’t a goodbye yet, it’ll be mostly about them so it’ll be as much content as a bunch of episodes, and the plot can’t be too messy, right, there’s less chance to ruin them. Buuut, their best parts have always been in their quiet, long moments, and that’s not really something I see a movie able to give them, so I’m super glad we get a series for that. The movie can be for the fun and flirty banter and the series can have the nice long angst with the payoffs.
Oh, and none of you better be writing in cheaty/deathy ideas for the movie! For five seconds I forgot the world in which they live so I was like, at least they can’t kill them off but y’all better not be writing them transmigrating! 😛
