Isn’t it possible that the writers actually wrote that couch scene at Camilo in such way and Maca was doing everything accordingly? I know she’s known for her tendency to improvise but perhaps we need to give the writers some credit too (unless of course there’s news somewhere that that scene really was all Maca’s improvisation). But either way, we so deserve them but we so don’t, we’re not ready. You know what I’m saying?
Oh, I absolutely do think the writers wrote in something. I could be wrong and whichever way it happened, full kudos to Maca because she executed it perfectly and to the editors and directors as well, but when you think about what actual new information was conveyed in that whole almost minute of staring, was there anything? They didn’t need to pad it out with all that, to be frank, mumbo jumbo. The point of that last bit was Val’s staring at Juls, flat out.
If they go back to Val’s after Camilos and they have a sex scene in the midst of the drama BEFORE it looks like Juls comes out to her mom. I would die a happy gay. Like I don’t know if Val could resist if they were alone together!

I don’t really think he’s anything deep down, I think he’s just a normal, easily swayed dude. He couldn’t have stood up against the homophobia when it was happening? If he felt strongly enough about it to bring it up now, I mean. It’s one thing if he didn’t have a stance either way and grew and learned from it, but he did apparently think it was wrong, but didn’t say anything then.
I liked that he let Val know he supported her but other than that, the “good” things he does are so minor and usually after allowing something much worse to happen first. And I can’t forget his attitude when he found out Juls sold lottery tickets on the street and only started liking her again when she wore that dress. It feels like he’s set up in direct opposition to Val who didn’t care at all about the tickets and whose reaction to the dress only reinforced existing feelings, not changing them completely. Juls didn’t need to look or be different for Val to fall.
