Hello! This is a rather personal ask so it’s okay if you don’t answer. But I think that I read somewhere before you are from Pakistan? From what I know, it doesn’t seem like a nice place for females in general, as well as LGBT. How are things for you? Are you doing okay there?

Well, I say it on my bio, Pakistani-American. Currently I live in the US but I’ve lived in Pakistan and regularly visit. I’m not out there, but I’m not out here either. It’s all relative. It can be bad there but I have the privilege of class to be sheltered from it there, so I’m good. Thanks for checking. :>

What happened on March 3rd 2016?

That was the date of episode 3×07 of The 100, where Lexa, one half of Clexa, was killed a minute after finally getting together with her main character love interest. She’d been introduced the previous season and then returned to much fanfare the next, with fans invited to come to the taping of the season finale with her in it. Turns out she’d been killed some episodes before and what appeared in that ep was an AI construct.

Fans carry a LOT of distrust over that, especially since the rest of 2016 seemed to only confirm those feelings of being a target by continuing to kill so many more f/f characters. As shows have slowly started to replenish that lost rep, people are beginning to relax, but I suppose this fandom experience is reminding people of Clexa, a canon f/f fandom this invested and enthusiastic and large.

with the rising of homophobia in my country makes me believe for a second that juliantina is just living in my dream world

They’re a dream for all of us, but I think it’s important to point out, anon, that they’re feeling the effects of homophobia too. That they can fight against it because they’re fictional characters (especially since one of them is like an orphan billionaire…Batwoman AU?) is great and all, but many individual people fight against it in their own real lives too.

I’m not lecturing you, it sucks, I really am sorry for how it is for you, and me, and all of us watching and living vicariously through media. I’m not trying to say it’s terrible for the characters and not to idealize that world, I’m saying, we’re all fighting against similar circumstances too, in our ways.

As for the rise of homophobia, these things tend to be cyclical. I do think we are always improving overall. Sometimes, particularly in a certain year I like to refer to as 2016, it really doesn’t feel like it, and we see all kinds of terrible crimes that seem to be escalating, and sometimes attitudes do seem to regress, but it’s never for long, and often those crimes are things that would actually be so frequent and matter of fact before that they weren’t even highlighted.

Whatever country you live in, things will eventually get better. Did Mexican wlw think they’d get Juliantina this soon? As a desi, I didn’t think we’d get anything like Ek Ladki. 2015′s Filipino The Rich Man’s Daughter was a mainstream series with the f/f characters as the actual leads. Flozmin got 22 hours of content! I know things are scary with the rise of the right-wing…everywhere, but you see people outraged at it and fighting too. Hopefully we can all hunker down and live through this and get to happier times.

amar a muerte finally got on tumblr trending!!! it was only a matter of time, and it’s hugely in part to you boo!! i hope more gays jump on while they still can

I’m kind of surprised it hasn’t been already?? This is the first time? Well, it deserves it! And I can’t even claim a bit of credit, lol, these kids were destined for big things.

And another anon:

Amar a muerte is trending #8 right now that makes me so happy to see ?

I think it’s even higher now!

And another anon:

Amar a muerte is trending and it’s all about Juliantina. Amazing!

You mean the exploits of Johnny haven’t been setting Tumblr afire? I’m genuinely surprised it didn’t trend at…so many points before this?

Nah anon needs to calm down. Televisa only kills major characters when they had been villains (Lucia and Beltran’s fates are the one I fear for), or like Mateo/Camilo type of characters but never beloved characters (I’m trying to think a story that fits what they said but nothing comes to mind, and I’ve seen hella lot of their novelas). I know most fear the bury-trope but that doesn’t exist in Mexico. Most importantly Bárbara said we won’t be disappointed and Maca told us to watch until the end.

Mateo is beloved by me! I’m also worried about Eva, what happens there?

I don’t think the reincarnation thing could work here because how would they even use it, in the way future? And the transmigration doesn’t make sense either since this show’s version of it has been people who haven’t been good coming back for a second chance and there’s nobody better than these two.
